iPhone 5 clock corrupted

My house is in an area that is covered by 3G. But I work in an area that is 4G-LTE. (Actually, my house is right on the border of these coverages because I notice it switching from 3G to LTE periodically.)

Anyway, what I notice is that when I switch from the LTE to 3G network, my iPhone 5 clock gets corrupted. It's 2h22m off. Weird. It doesn't do it right away, but after I'm home for awhile, I'll notice that the clock has been changed. I know this corruption causes errors in my iMessage app because I've gotten an error message about it. It may cause errors in others.

Once I leave my house and go back into stable LTE coverage, I can do one of the following to correct the clock (because it won't autocorrect):

- turn the phone off and then back on

- go to Settings => General => Date&Time and switch "Set Automatically" off and then back on

These fixes will also work if I stay in 3G coverage.

This has happened every day since I got the phone so I know it's a real bug. I'm sending a support request to Apple today.

If anyone has a permanent fix, post it here. Thanks.

Otherwise, however, I love my iPhone 5 and LTE speed makes all the difference.

Yes I reset it and its working fine but that's how it always goes, it could be fine for a couple hours or a couple days then all of a sudden the clock is off by hours and iMessage is all messed up.

Well, good luck with it. Responses in other threads have been mixed. Some are working, some are not. Again, it seems to be a Verizon issue, hope they can work this out, especially with Daylight Saving Time rapidly approaching.

I am experiencing this also. Verizon, Iphone 5. It occurs every time I get into the Louisville KY area (I am normally in Indiana) it has gone off over a year from the correct date/time and once read "18:xx Sept, xx, 2011" when the actual time was "13:yy oct 30 2012"

This happened twice in the same area, 2 days apart. Never had any problem in other areas and I travel the entire state of IN.

Workaround: set time manually, turn off auto timesetting

I suspect this is a carrier issue

I am on Sprint and samething happening to me. I've caught it once before my alarm was to go off, it kicked back and hour. Last couple of days it was fine but Friday and Saturday it started again. Any way to know about a fix from Sprint? I did set manual time and left it on manual and yet it still rolled back and hour. If I turn the phone off and then back on, it's shows correct time for the remainder of the day.

I have the same problem: in Canada, with Fido provider, iPhone 5, 3G, 4G, automatically set time or not. When i toggle synch time from OFF to ON, time synch ok, but suddenly revert to a bad clock several hours away. I also saw 20 minutes diff. Strange, but I can't trust my phone to wake me up.

I had a problem very similar to this with an iPhone 4S, though it didnt involves different degrees of coverage.

In the end I determined that it was my sim-card that was causing the problem, at it took to fix was the instilation of a new sim-card
