Has anyone find a solution for this problem? Or is it still being ignored by Apple?

I got so frustrated with this problem of not being to delete permantly a contact from my iPhone 4, that I visited the MacStore in Marbella, Southeren Spain to ask if they coiuld help or advise. Nobody could give a solution other than to contact Apple via their feedback. I have already done this several times during the past few months with no response whatsoever. All in all, it is a pretty pathetic situation.

    Restore your phone as new.

Restoring the phone doesn't work! FYI

Why is it not posssible for Apple to resolve this? Surely they must understand that if one of your contacts changes their tel. nº. it is ridiculous that the old nº. keeps showing up whenever you select their name.

Restoring it does work I have done it several times. It cannot be restored to a previous back up it has to be set up as a new iPhone. I just did this last week.

    Hey guys.

I have a friend who is an iOS developer. I talked to him about the bug and asked him to report it.

He told me that Apple won't be accepting any more bugs for iOS 6 but he added the bug for iOS 7 development and it should be solved following the release of iOS 7.

So I guess we would have to wait for the release of iOS 7 and update our iPhones to get rid of this bug. :|

    Hey Guyz,

I do not have a perfect solution for this issue but I have a work around (and I am not sure if someone posted something similar already).

Let us say, we have a contact ABC with 2 numbers and you delete one of the numbers.

After deleting this number, put that number in a new contact (let's say - Deleted Contact) and send text to it. PS: Unless you text one time, this work around will not work.

Now, if you would even delete "Deleted Contact", and text sent to "Deleted Contact", on typing ABC while composing a new message, you will only see 1 number (though the number you wanted to delete will appear under deleted contact but, ABC will be clean)

This works for me and hope will work for you as well.

    Good Luck.

That's just great... The same thing is happening to me! I deleted my cousins number because shes so annoying but when I want to text someone else and I type in a letter, her name pops up! Please help

Sadly, the same problem persists in iOS 7! :(

Are you sure? Type in the name that you are trying to delete, touch the little 'i' by the side of the name and touch delete from recent, I haven't tried it but it might work!

Actually removing the name/# from recent took care of my problems.

I just found this to be the case too, it isn't resolved but there is a way to delete the old number/contact now with the addition of the circled blue "i" next to the contact information. The issue does not persist either, I did an experiment by changing the number for a contact and the old contact info does not show up.

I had two contacts that were issues, one with an old number and one that was deleted. With the update to iOS7 the issue is at least resolvable now and doesn't continue when editting contacts.
