iPhone 5 screen dims by itself..

This has happened about 6 times since day of release.. while using the phone, in an app, the screen will suddenly go to what I'd guess is the lowest dimming setting.. in the dark I see that the apps are still running, just barely visible. If I can navigate back to the brightness setting, the phone shows it to be at max brightness with auto brightness turned off... the screen stays dim until I move the slider.. as soon as the slider moves the phone lights back up...

I can't force this to happen.. it has been random.. but it has been at least once a day since I received it.

My son say his did this as well.. once..

Anybody else?

Hi guys! I had an iphone 4 8GB that I bought back in early September 2013 from Verizon and never had any problems with it like this screen dimming issue. It was running ios 7 very well but 8GB storage just wasn't cutting it and with some of the new games requiring a 4s or newer model I decided to go all the way and upgrade to a 5s 32GB. I've now had my 5s for about 4 months and until tonight had zero issues... Now I am getting this screen dimming bug or hardware problem. I downloaded Battle Supremacy tonight and played it for about 10 minutes and started to see the screen get darker and darker progressively, so finally I thought something just isn't right! I checked to see if the game had an option that dimmed the screen if my battery got low which it was at 24% at that time but there was no such option. I exited out and the screen was dim even while not in the game. At this point I started to get very worried because nothing like that had ever happened. I then googled it and saw that this problem went back to 2012!!! The ending posts on this thread seemed to be the most recent on the problem.

I'm not sure if this problem was fixed and then reintroduced in the latest ios 7.1.2 which I just "upgraded" to a few days ago because I don't seem to find much info after september of 2013. Is anyone still having this problem? And has anyone found a solid fix for this? It seems like people on this thread tried a few really time consuming fixes only to have it appear again relatively quick. Also for me this starts to happen not only in my latest app Battle Supremacy. I tried Colin Mcrae Rally too and after a few races the screen began to darken. Could it be a heat problem? Many games get my iphone noticeably hot even through it's thick case but this darkening hasn't appeared until tonight. Does anyone have any input? Plus sorry in advance for reviving quite an old thread but I thought it was needed since there was no real conclusion to this one. Thanks for your time everyone! 🙂
