Ohkk, you dont need to worry because this is normal with iphone 5. You dont need any replacement as it will happen in every iphone 5. I had a iphone 5 before and it happened in every replacement i did. I replaced 3 times . Now i use iphone 5s so ders no problem in it.

Solution- dont use your camera in 2g network. Use on 3g , wifi, airplane mode. Your phone is normal dont worry its a basic design fault with iphone 5 and dat is why they are not replacing it because dey know it vl happen in replaced iphone 5 also and so they are making excuse

P@rth: If this is a design fault with the iPhone 5, they should either give a refund for the phone or give the option of paying a little extra and upgrading to a 5c or 5s.

Not using the camera while in 2g or blaming it on the environment is not the solution to the problem.

No company will give you refund for what is sold. And they do offer upgrade to iphone 5s by paying some money

Same issue I am facing. Hardly used my phone for 4 months. Going to contact apple soon

another iphone issue..... go to service center, and get the phone repaired or replaced, simple.

Well, they didnt do anything. I ended up buying new iphone 5s giving my iphone 5 to my dad.

You should definitely get the replacement. I got one from them for this very problem. I'm in B'lore India and had to fight this case with Ample and apple care India.

Make sure you first register a case with Apple case about this issue, then visit ample care center (Imagine stores) with your problem and case #. Earlier in this forum, I have mentioned steps to replicate this issue. When you are at the store, replicate this issue with the steps mentioned and the apple folks will be forced to give you the replacement. Pl. don't leave the battle half way till you get a replacement.

I disagree with you. This is where Apple is different. I know many folks has got replacement for this very problem worldwide. Its upto you as to how far you want to take this battle with them!

Same here. I'm going to ask Apple for a replacement. I'm extremely unhappy with the battery life too (though the low batt in this screen grab has nothing to do with the purple lines - it was on about 20% when I took the video).

Whatever has caused this camera problem, Apple need to sort it out pronto.

I've replied in this thread a year ago from now. Back then i had this problem from 6.0 through 6.1 to 6.1.4. Now i am on 7.1.2 and problem is still existing. I had the same issue with 3 different iPhone5. This is NOT software related problem. From my observations : problem occurs when i am using : Runkeeper (gps sport tracking app), Spotify and cellular data enabled at the same time. After some time, eg. when i am biking and stop to take a photo those purple lines appear and second after iphone camera freezes. The only solution is disable cellular data (Settings -> Cellular -> OFF) or via Control Center. This fix this issue immediately !. I can promise you - you don't need to read all post in this thread and looking for some marvelous tip. For now, I can live with this issue and waiting for iPhone6.
