Green glow on iPhone 5 unlock screen?

I've had my iPhone 5 for a few days now and I've noticed this issue more and more. Whenever I wake my iPhone there is a split second where a green glow around the edge of the screen is visible. It's a bit like light leakage but its green and only appears for a fraction of a second after you turn on the screen. It is also sometimes activated by using the slide to unlock, which makes it glow brighter.

Does anyone else have this happening with their new iPhone? I don't know if this is the start of a defect or not... I have had very rare graphical flickering and tearing of the keyboard UI, but that's only happened once or twice and only for a second, as soon as I started typing it went away.

It looks like this might turn into a trip to the Apple store, I just wanted to know if anyone else has noticed this weird phenomenon on their new iPhones.

I think i have found a way to reproduce the green glow consistently so that if you need to demonstrate the problem to someone at say, the Apple Store, you won't look like an idiot by not being able to reproduce the problem.

I noticed as i was wiping the screen with my sleeve, the inside of my exposed forearm brushed along the screen and it glowed green very strongly.

Now, I realise that wiping the screen with my forearm isn't something I'm likely to regularly do, but for me at least i can consistently reproduce the problem this way. It seems the screen reacts in this manner the more surface area you cover.

I've also noticed that you can reproduce this when the phone is in the process of booting up, so it's not just the lock-screen.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Hey Guys,

I live in Germany and just bought an iPhone last Saturday. After "playing" around with it for almost the whole weekend I discovered this green glow. At first, it didn't really bother me that much but after a while it got worse and worse...

Today (Wednesday) I went to the closest apple store and showed them my problem. They said they haven't heard of anything like it and replaced it straight away. The problem: my replacement has the same issues and I even tried out the ones displayed in the store -> every single one has the green glow issue! -.-

I really don't know what to do at this point but I'm probably going to wait a week or two and hope for a better production series in stock that isn't broken! Any other suggestions or fixes of how to get rid of the green glow would be very welcomed!

Hope to have a "normal" iPhone soon! ;)

I had my phone replaced yesterday, not at the Apple store, but at the O2 store where I got the phone from. The replacement still has the problem but is less evident. I have to really brush my arm (not fingers or hand) against it to really see it.

It's very unlikely a software issue, since the problem can be demonstrated even when the phone is booting up or shutting down.
