iPhone 5 Verizon LTE problem

I have the 64GB iPhone 5 in white on the Verizon network. Each day at a random time LTE will have a problem where I can't make a facetime call. If I try and run a speed test either my up or down will not complete the test. The only way for me to fix the issue is to toggle airplane mode and as soon as my phone picks up the Verizon LTE signal I can make a facetime call.

I have done some troubleshooting on my own and here are some of those steps and results.

I contacted Verizon and they "rebuilt" my line in their system. I'm not sure what that means, but Verizon assured me it would fix any issues in their systems.

I have the issue on LTE only, 3G and Wifi have no issues with facetime and complete speeds tests every time without issue.

LTE in my area is a full 5 bars and when I'm not experiencing this issue I typically get 10-20Mb down/up

I contacted AppleCare and they suggested I do a reset.

I tried a reset on "Network Settings"

Nothing above has made any progress so tonight I'm trying a full reset on the phone per AppleCare instructions. If that doesn't work I was told to take the phone into an Apple store. The only issue with that is the 1 hour drive one way which I'm trying to prevent.

If anyone else is having the same issue please speak up or point me to a fix you have done.

Thank you,

Tom

Same problem, but im northwest, Seattle WA...

the phone will say LTE and I have full bars, but it will not connect to the web. No internet conection and no apps, nuthin. And it happens randomly, allmost My current and annoying solution is to turn the phone all the way off and then all the way back on. I'll be standing in the exact same spot and it will then conncet to the web like nothing was wrong. They really need fix this...

Im having terrible 3G and 4G connectivity in my house, I have to walk 50 feet outside to recieve a signal. Sure I have wifi in my house but this is not the point. My old android htc Thunderbolt had 4g in my house. I bought my iPhone 5 yesterday 10/19/2012. I called verizon 3 times. I have two trouble tickets. no resolution yet. I'll keep caling until we get a fix. 😟

Wow!!!! Upload speeds working great even after a phone call! I'm unable to replicate the issue. I'm not alone, a friend of mine that was having the same issue is unable to replicate the issue also! Somehow the issue was resolved, or appears to be! My guess is that Verizon did an update to its towers allowing a call to disconnect properly and therefore allowing normal data use to resume after a call.

What's really weird is that my phone has worked perfectly all day too. And I even tried to duplicate the issue again by calling the phone and making calls with the phone. And it hasn't messed up once all day.

I'm in north NJ. And the issue usually happens in southern NJ.

So I thought the issue didn't occur because I was in north jersey but maybe they fixed it.

Verizon hasn't called me back and neither has apple even though I called Verizon today and continued to send screenshots to apple of the issue.

Maybe they finally fixed it somehow through some kind of invisible update?

I've never had an iPhone before this one so I don't know how apple does their updates. Are they done without you even knowing?

I hope this stays fixed even when I leave north NJ.

Anyone else having no more issues?

My iPhone is currently working also (Near Hartford, CT). Last Sunday (10/14), when I did some testing in the evening I could not get LTE to fail after a call so I thought it was fixed... then on Monday the LTE connections started to fail again after phone calls. Hopefully this time it will continue to work....

I spoke with Verizon yesterday after the SIM card swap didn't fix the issue. They "rebuilt" my line in their system and then opened a trouble ticket. On a good note the tech support rep I got ahold of appeared genuinely interested in fixing things and worked with me as I fumbled through field test mode to get some signal level numbers for her. Since the call I have not been able to replicate the issue.

I had no issues this entire weekend in North Jersey and then traveled north even more to Cental Valley, New York. No issues in New York either. I tried calling the phone, making a call with the phone, and connecting and disconnecting from WiFi. No problems.

I then traveled back down to South Jersey, in Atlantic City, Absecon, Ocean City (exit 40 and south of exit 40).

I tried calling the iPhone and staying on the phone 2 minutes. Once disconnecting the call, I had the same issues: I could not access the internet (some sites), Facebook wasn't functioning properly, and Instagram failed to upload photos. I had to either (1) turn off LTE and try again or (2) turn on airplane mode and then turn it back off.

It appears this issue isn't happening everywhere in the United States or everywhere on the East Coast. It occurs in random areas. Here in Ocean City New Jersey, I have 5 full bars of Verizon LTE right now, and I'm unable to upload photos because of this issue.

This issue still needs to be addressed in some areas, even though it appears to have resolved in other areas.
