iPhone 5 can't send SMS - gets an error when sending SMS

Heya all,

I've just reported a bug on this page http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html (select there on Feedback Type -> Bug Report ) , I'd suggest you all report the bug with Sprint iPhone doesn't send SMS on GSM network on that page. May be this way we can get more attention to the problem.

I dont know what has been said, browsed through it and didnt see much...

Sprint iPhone 5, there are some ppl who are able to get it unlocked like Verizon iPhones. The rule is that to wait 3 month but there are people have said Sprint unlocked it from them.

As for getting an error when sending SMS, does your data work? Im wondering if you need to change your APN... i know for sure MMS doesnt work but SMS, im not sure if it affects it.

You should be able to send SMS without any data plan, it's a carrier service and it's working fine with any other phone with the same SIM. And BTW MMS is workinf fine, just can't send SMS, even I can receive SMS, but not send them. This is the same problem for everyone here.

I have de same problem with 2 Sprint iPhone 5 "unlocked". From Argentina with de same issue.

I hope Apple or Sprint give us a solution!!!

I have exactly the same problem with my Sprint Iphone 5 "unlocked" for users outside USA, my carrier use GSM Technology, in my case I have the chance to send it back to the Apple Store in USA and change it, I need suggestions about the type of equipment I should ask for, considering the performance outside USA, I mean what types of equipments are working in GSM network with full functionality outside USA. Thanks in advance!!!

After my many complaints someone called me. I hope that Apple fix the issue soon!!

Ahhh the person who called me confirmed that the 2 iphones that i bought at the apple store in usa are considered unlocked for apple!!

Hi Max, I read what Jossie (Apple) told you, I did what she said about to activate the Iphone in Wifi, but I get an error message about activation, Did you do the same?, How was in your case?

Hi! The same, I have the same error message about activation than you. When I put de original (sprint) sim the iphone dont activated. Then, when I put the sim of my carrier in Argentina the mobile activated well. I dont know why...

I have just read something weird at the end of my billl:

"Sprint Account Information

No Wireless Service Activation during Iphone Sale"

Maybe this has something to do with the problem????

My bill say the same and de seller say to me "dont turn on de mobile with de sim of sprint inside, only turn on with your sim in argentina"... i dont know why! now, apple says that activated with the spring sim but done work that!
