iPhone 5 can't send SMS - gets an error when sending SMS

i tried that, too. doesn't work either. will it ever get fixed? what if i have it jail break?

If you cannot send MMS message, then it might be a problem from the carrier. Have you tried the SIM in some other phone and tried to send SMS/MMS?

All of us here have the problem of not being able to only send SMS messages.

everything else seems to be working except for sms. if it was the carrier, i wouldn't be able to make calls/ receive sms. but i can do eveything except send

Then you should be able to send MMS too, go to Settings -> Messages and make sure you have the "Show subject field" ON. After you have this setting as on, try to create a new message and if you type even a single space in the Subject field then you should be able to send MMS and it should go through just fine.

In continuation to the error regarind sending SMSes which i am facing as well, i am unable to activate facetime as well. Can you folks confirm that this bug affects all of you?

of course, facetime and imessage activates with one sms, if sms do not work, facetime and imessage neither... regards!

do you guys think this will ever be fixed or should i just get rid of my iphone 5?

iMessages work for me. Its just SMSes and FaceTime acting up 😟

prasadr.87, imessage and facetime are working but ... with your apple id, not with your phone number, as you can't activate them with your phone number ( needs SMS as Max said ), right ?

dianacamille, if we put altogether the BIG pressure on Apple they will action ... I contact them 1 time a day putting pressure by email with the executive management team, thinking about write email again on the Tim Cook adress

well more and more people are having the same problem everyday so let's hope apple can take action

yes but for that you need to action first by mail, by phone, you will find here every thing you need for that

This situation is unfair and starts from a massive mistake of Apple so if we shout loud they wont have any choice except proposing a solution

After my email to Tim Cook last 2 weeks, one guy from Executive Relation team has contact me and said he'll handle my case.

They send 1 Senior Support Specialist to support and day to day update with me.

Now they said their Engineer team is working on this issue and hope to resolve it 😟.

There's no way for us to do now:).

Have the same problem in Israel. Bought a sprint IPhone 5 in US 3 weeks ago.

I bought a nano SIM from one of the carriers here (I didn't cut the old one).

Eveything works fine except the SMS messages.

BTW, I have reported a bug in apple web site few minutes ago.
