iphone 4s videos won't play in Quicktime

Same issue, however even the old Quicktime won't open the videos. I copied them directly from my 32GB ipod 4 IOS6 and nothing will open them. Quicktime keeps goving me the error "Error -2048: Couldn't open the file IMG_0013.MOV because it is not a file that Quicktime Understands."

Considering that it's been a month since iPhone 4S users first installed iOS6 and stopped being able to view and edit their videos on a computer, should we expect to hear an update from Apple soon about when they expect this to be resolved?

We also can not see the iphone 4s mov's in Premiere Pro CS5, DISASTER.

Okay, switching back to 7.6, reregistering it, worked. And fixed Premiere Pro issue as well.. so something wrong with mov codec in 7.7...

Add me to the list. I can't ghet the video to appear on anything but the iphone 4s.

We might need to keep sending them e-mails reporting this issue cause this is just unnaceptable.

I've been having the same problem as original post. I cannot even view in Windows Media Player. I get the black screen and only audio. When I use the "open with iTunes" for the videos, I can see some video though it's very jerky. I tried to download the 7.6 version of QuickTime, but it would not complete installation because it said "A Newer Version of QuickTime is Already installed". 😠

I was able to upload all of them to You Tube, and then dowload them back to myself in .MP4 format. I can now view them on my PC. The drawback is that You Tube only allows you to downlaod two videos per hour regardless of the size and legnth. I had 8 videos to convert, so it tokk me 4 hours.

Vtk28- Delete/ remove current QuickTime version then install older version (7.6).

I have now removed the newer version of quicktime and installed version 7.6. The videos now show (no more black screen), except its back to the jerky format where seconds of the frames cut out while the audio plays fine.

This was the original reason I downloaded the new quicktime version. Please let me know if anyone gets a resolution to this or the bugs are fixed on the new quicktime version.

I spoke to someone from Apply yesterday.

They (including a senior consultant) had NEVER heard of this problem.

As well, since the phone itself was working fine, they weren't that interested in the fallout from their upgrade.

One suggestion the fellow made is to "get a new codec" on your home computer. I have yet to do this as I'll need help from a friend in figuring this out.

If people on this forum could all start phoning apple to complain, perhaps they'll start to listen and do something about it. At this point it's clear they don't read these forums.

Thanks, Cecil H. I can now view the videos with the older version of Quick Time. However, like Dcomment, the video has a "jerky" quality to it. I'm wondering why this is happening to some of us, and not others.

Oh My Gosh... that's terrible news. I guess post Stever Jobs... Apple once again...

Concerning playback with 7.6, I'm wondering if your system can handle it? Remember the resolution is even higher on the 4s then on the 4. On my system, and nothing to brag about, in 7.6 Quicktime, the 4s movs play fine.

My iphone 4s videos played fine before the upgrade to iOS 6.

Does QuickTime 7.7.2 play movies shot on the iOS devices if they have been updated to iOS 6.0.1?

(The QuickTime for Windows issue isn't mentioned explicitly in the bugfixes described in the release notes for iOS 6.0.1 ... but it might be worth checking.)
