Is there dust inside camera lens of iPhone 5?

I bought my new iPhone 5 on 28th of September from a local Telco.

Today I noticed inside the camera lens there is dust.

I'm very disappointed 😊

Yup,

I rang Apple here in Spain. They gave me two options:

1. They would take back my iPhone, and when they confirmed the prob, send me out a new one or

2. I could pay, there and then €30, I'd receive a new iPhone the following morning by courier, they'd collect my iPhone when I was ready (when I'd copied everything off it and reset it) but if I didn't send my iPhone back, they'd bill me for a new one (fair enough).

I went with option 2, received a new iPhone, copied my stuff onto it, sent the one with the dust on the sensor back and I've been using the new one for 2 months now with no issues!

It's a known issue, so if there's dust in the lens, they replace the phone. I've had 2 replaced so far and it's a design flaw with the background mic port. Dust gets in the port and makes its way to the lens. The last replacement phone I received, I placed clear tape over that hole as soon as I got it and haven't gotten dust in the lens in the 8-9 months I've had it. Tape over that port reduces the volume of sounds picked up in videos, but for me, still pictures are more important than videos.

I have 2 major dust spots in my rear camera. Took the phone to the apple store and they said they don't repair the camera part of the phone, and will need to replace it. MY phone is out of warranty, expired 9/21/13. They want $280.00 to replace the phone. I'm going to try the compressed air trick first before I consider paying $280 and lost my jailbreak.

I am having the same issues, to the point were the camera is unusable. So shame on me, but it's been an issue for about 2 months now and I chalked it up to poor camera quality. However it has gotten so bad that tonight I took it to the Apple store. Warranty expired, no go. Of course I can buy a new one for $269.00. After reading this I am upset as it appears this is a fault of the phone design. That being said warranty or not shouldn't the defect be covered? Not happy with my customer service expirence at all. Any ideas?

I have same issue here. I just bought an iPhone 5S gold 16gb last week, and realized that my phone has dust inside rear camera lens.. I was so frustrated. Then, I decided to go to Apple Store to ask them for replacement. They said, because they did not have the gold one in stock, they could not replace for me, so they asked me to call 1-800-APPLE. I got home and called them, after providing some information about the issue. The guy asked me to ship my phone back to them and then they will ship the phone back for me about 3-5 business days. Here is the question, I am wondering that they will ship the new iPhone with seal, or my old phone after repaired? Thank you!
