My IPhone 4s is not sending text messages to just one person. Help!

All of the sudden I can't send texts to my boyfriend. It seems like I'm getting his now but he is not receiving any of mine. Any advice?

We solved the same problem by deleting the message thread for that person.

  1. From the home screen, tap Messages.
  2. Tap Edit.
  3. Tap the message thread (red delete circle)
  4. Tap Delete.
  5. You've now deleted the message thread.

(we had deleted the contact as well )

Hey, I know I'm years late but I hope I can help someone else w/ this cause I've tried all this other stuff and NONE of them worked!

Try messaging the contact w/ your iCloud email. When it sends. Change back to your phone number. And you should be good. It worked for me. For BOTH numbers I couldn't contact.

Settings > Messages > Send & Recieve > Select email then then text phone number. Once delivered revert back to your phone number and text the number again. Should work like new!!

go to Settings > Messages and make sure Send as SMS is turned on. If he isn't on an iDevice (iPhone, iPad, iTouch, etc) or if your service isn't great your messages may not go through in a timely mannor. you may also want to scroll down and make sure the MMS Messaging is turn on as well while you're doing the above.

You may also want to make sure you aren't signed into iMessage on a computer as i've found out you may have issues.

They are both turned on. He has a Blackberry but we've never had an issue before. I tried restoring and updating the software on my phone but he still cannot receive my messages. It's not that they take longer, it's been days and they just never get to him even though my phone says they were sent

Since Apple added more security on SMS, they messed up with the code.

1st: go into your contact book and change your boyfriend number, just add an extra number

2nd: go into your messages, if you did changed your boyfriend numbers on step 1, you should see your boyfriends messages "old" number, it must probably looks like this "+ AAA BBBBBBBBBB"

AAA for dialling code

BBBBBBBBBB for phone number

So the new way to send message is to manually type his phone number without dialling code on a new message thread, after that, you'll be receiving message from "+ AAA BBBBBBBBBB" and use the new thread "BBBBBBBBBB" to send message.

Apple messed up so bad this time !!!

Hopes that help

N.b: of course you have to remove the extra number on your contact book after you've checked the number showned in the message.

Fire the new CEO. This is ridiculous. This actually is happening with my gf right now. Shes not getting any of my text messages. What the **** is the matter with Apple that they would be so stupid with maps and now this.

Im on ATT and she is on Verizon. We both have iphones. This does NOT appear to be happening with all of my contacts. I have another friend on Verizon and she gets my texts.

OMG. I'm having the SAME freaking problem with my boyfriend! I followed the steps you outlined earlier, but its not working for me... any other suggestions? My messages are saying "delievered," which never are actually delievered. Maybe he has to do the steps and not me?

We both have iPhones... I'm AT&T; he is verizon. This is such an inconvenience (nicely put)!!

Hi,

I have solved the problem (iPhone 5) by deleting the whole conversation related to that particular contact I couldn't send messages to. That is Sent and Received SMS to and from this contact.

All other suggestions mentioned in this thread were tested but did not work in my case.

Thank you and good luck.

Hi Supss

I tried this & it worked adding a number at the end of my partners phone number. But when I try text his original number it dosnt work. Do I keep the number with a extra number on the end ? And will I ever be able to text his original number?

Please ensure that the phone numbers in you contacts are in the international format. For example: South Africa's international code is +27. All phone numbers in South Africa start with a 0. This 0 should be excluded. So if the mobile number you want to SMS is 040 123 4567 you should add it to your contacts as +27401234567. Since I changed the numbers to the international format in my contacts I have had no problems. I must just add that my problem was specifically with iMessage and not normal SMS. Normal SMS still worked fine.
