My IPhone 4s is not sending text messages to just one person. Help!

All of the sudden I can't send texts to my boyfriend. It seems like I'm getting his now but he is not receiving any of mine. Any advice?

go to Settings > Messages and make sure Send as SMS is turned on. If he isn't on an iDevice (iPhone, iPad, iTouch, etc) or if your service isn't great your messages may not go through in a timely mannor. you may also want to scroll down and make sure the MMS Messaging is turn on as well while you're doing the above.

You may also want to make sure you aren't signed into iMessage on a computer as i've found out you may have issues.

Well I turned off iMessages then rebooted phone sent a text to the one number I was having problems with. It all went through so I switched iMessages back on and voila I can now send messages to the one offending number I couldn't before. Have no idea why this happened in the first place but thanks to the info I gleamed off here all is fixed.

Please ensure that the phone numbers in you contacts are in the international format. For example: South Africa's international code is +27. All phone numbers in South Africa start with a 0. This 0 should be excluded. So if the mobile number you want to SMS is 040 123 4567 you should add it to your contacts as +27401234567. Since I changed the numbers to the international format in my contacts I have had no problems. I must just add that my problem was specifically with iMessage and not normal SMS. Normal SMS still worked fine.

This sounds like the same problem that I just experienced. It is known as a "translation problem".

One of the wireless carriers must submit a ticket to a national business who handles multi-carrier/inter-carrier cellular communication, basically an unbiased third party business that is government funded. Call your carrier's technical support department, and referance the phone number and carrier (if you know it).

My partner and i had this same issue, we tried everything listed on this forum, anyway it turns out that the problem was not the iPhone it was my samsung galaxy. All of her messages were disappearing into my spam folder. Thought this might help someone as most people mention partners, aka the person most of us text the most.

So anyway try checking the spam folder on the recipient phone. Worked for us

Since Apple added more security on SMS, they messed up with the code.

1st: go into your contact book and change your boyfriend number, just add an extra number

2nd: go into your messages, if you did changed your boyfriend numbers on step 1, you should see your boyfriends messages "old" number, it must probably looks like this "+ AAA BBBBBBBBBB"

AAA for dialling code

BBBBBBBBBB for phone number

So the new way to send message is to manually type his phone number without dialling code on a new message thread, after that, you'll be receiving message from "+ AAA BBBBBBBBBB" and use the new thread "BBBBBBBBBB" to send message.

Apple messed up so bad this time !!!

Hopes that help

N.b: of course you have to remove the extra number on your contact book after you've checked the number showned in the message.

If you have the same problem after iPhone reset (without restoring backup!), i think it's not an iPhone problem. You can confirm by testing your SIM card in another iPhone 5, OR, If you can, send sms from web selfcare of your operator, what's happening?

If you have a 'delivery receipt', i think you can check your wife's phone, test an another. If it is the same thing, it is possible that this is a routing problem between the two operators (contact him).
