My IPhone 4s is not sending text messages to just one person. Help!
All of the sudden I can't send texts to my boyfriend. It seems like I'm getting his now but he is not receiving any of mine. Any advice?

go to Settings > Messages and make sure Send as SMS is turned on. If he isn't on an iDevice (iPhone, iPad, iTouch, etc) or if your service isn't great your messages may not go through in a timely mannor. you may also want to scroll down and make sure the MMS Messaging is turn on as well while you're doing the above.
You may also want to make sure you aren't signed into iMessage on a computer as i've found out you may have issues.

Country code worked for me. Added country code (NA + 1) to number combination. (1 nnn nnn-nnnn) Other number combinations that didn't work.(nnn nnn-nnnn), (nnn-nnnn)
Hope this helps someone.

I tied these suggestions too but it didn't work. So I turned off iMessage and sent the message as an SMS text message. After I confirmed that they went through then I turned iMessage back on and tried it again. It worked then.
Well I turned off iMessages then rebooted phone sent a text to the one number I was having problems with. It all went through so I switched iMessages back on and voila I can now send messages to the one offending number I couldn't before. Have no idea why this happened in the first place but thanks to the info I gleamed off here all is fixed.
I have this issue and it deals with iMessage. I think it has to do with both of us sharing the same Apple ID as the only issue I have is with my Wife. Turning off iMessage and all is fine.
Hi,
I have solved the problem (iPhone 5) by deleting the whole conversation related to that particular contact I couldn't send messages to. That is Sent and Received SMS to and from this contact.
All other suggestions mentioned in this thread were tested but did not work in my case.
Thank you and good luck.
Please ensure that the phone numbers in you contacts are in the international format. For example: South Africa's international code is +27. All phone numbers in South Africa start with a 0. This 0 should be excluded. So if the mobile number you want to SMS is 040 123 4567 you should add it to your contacts as +27401234567. Since I changed the numbers to the international format in my contacts I have had no problems. I must just add that my problem was specifically with iMessage and not normal SMS. Normal SMS still worked fine.
I have same problem and only appears to affect one contact. If I double click the message when it appears to have gone, it gives an option of "send as a text message"if you select this it goes instantly. It must be a problem in the settings but I can't see anything that differs from my other contacts. It is driving me mad!
This sounds like the same problem that I just experienced. It is known as a "translation problem".
One of the wireless carriers must submit a ticket to a national business who handles multi-carrier/inter-carrier cellular communication, basically an unbiased third party business that is government funded. Call your carrier's technical support department, and referance the phone number and carrier (if you know it).
My partner and i had this same issue, we tried everything listed on this forum, anyway it turns out that the problem was not the iPhone it was my samsung galaxy. All of her messages were disappearing into my spam folder. Thought this might help someone as most people mention partners, aka the person most of us text the most.
So anyway try checking the spam folder on the recipient phone. Worked for us
I had same problem, I deleted all previous messages out of phone, I can now text the ones I was having a problem with
In your case it appears that iMessage problem.
Try to:
1) Restart your iPhone
2) Deactivate / Reactivate iMessage (Settings / Messages)
3) Reset Network Settings (Settings / General / Reset)
Since Apple added more security on SMS, they messed up with the code.
1st: go into your contact book and change your boyfriend number, just add an extra number
2nd: go into your messages, if you did changed your boyfriend numbers on step 1, you should see your boyfriends messages "old" number, it must probably looks like this "+ AAA BBBBBBBBBB"
AAA for dialling code
BBBBBBBBBB for phone number
So the new way to send message is to manually type his phone number without dialling code on a new message thread, after that, you'll be receiving message from "+ AAA BBBBBBBBBB" and use the new thread "BBBBBBBBBB" to send message.
Apple messed up so bad this time !!!
Hopes that help
N.b: of course you have to remove the extra number on your contact book after you've checked the number showned in the message.
If you have the same problem after iPhone reset (without restoring backup!), i think it's not an iPhone problem. You can confirm by testing your SIM card in another iPhone 5, OR, If you can, send sms from web selfcare of your operator, what's happening?
If you have a 'delivery receipt', i think you can check your wife's phone, test an another. If it is the same thing, it is possible that this is a routing problem between the two operators (contact him).
Hi
Had trouble sending text messages from my Iphone 3gs so not troubled with any latest IOS updates.
Not sure why it started but found if I inserted the international code for the person I was calling it worked OK.
ie: replace the 0 in a mobile number with 44 for UK
Hope this helps someone.
