iOS 6: Music playback issues?

After upgrading to ios 6 I've found an extremely annoying problem regarding music playback. iOS 6 doesn't seem to remember where you last paused a playlist, album, etc... it always starts back at the last place you originally started it.

For example:

I have an album with 12 songs. I start it on track 4, listen to a few songs on the way to work. Pull the headphone cord once I arrive and Music pauses as expected. When I return to the car for the drive back home, instead of resuming playback where I left off, it starts back at track 4 again.

Another example:

Let's say I want to listen to an artist, so I go to "All Songs" and just hit shuffle so it plays randomly. I listen to a few tracks here and there, skip a few, all is good. Just as with albums, when I stop playback and resume later it will always return back to the first song played, and play then back in the same order again.

Am I missing a setting or something? I searched the settings app may times and can't find anything even close. Does it have anything to do with me pausing the player by removing the headphone cord? Could it be some app I am using between pauses?

Never had issues with ios 5, so this is defenitely software related. iOS 5 used to remember where I last played music over days -- even if I were to watch videos on the iPhone or listen to Pandora between music playback.

I never had a problem with my iPhone 4S. However, with my iPhone 5, no matter what playlist I use, it automatically shuffles to the last song played. I have tried restarting, changing the settings in utilities, turning shuffle on and off - literally everything I can think of but it refuses to do anything but start with the same song. To make is worse, after it finishes that song, it appears as if it has moved to another song and is still on play but there is no sound and no indication that the song is playing forward. I love the Zac Brown Band but if I hear "You Get What You Give" one more time, I am going to go crazy. BTW - I have an iPad w and have had absolutely no issues with it at all. Apple -- HELP!!!!!

Since iOS 7 has only been released for developer evaluation, and any discussion of it is against the NDA terms the developers are bound to, no one will be able to anser that.

iOS 7 is useless to correct this since it won't be available on the iPhone4 and iPod Touch 4.

anyone get a lead on a fix? everytime i start my ipod, it always starts on the same song no mater which one i was on when last listened to.

Perhaps, but the Terms of Use here, and the NDA any developer (which yo have to be to get an authorized copy of the beta) prohibit discussion of beta softaware on this forum.

I can't beleive this has not been fixed yet. I am so tired of having to reshuffle everytime I want to listen to music rather than just have it pick up where i left off like my android device did. I was looking forward to the switch to iphone and now I regret it. Why this device cannot do something as simple as starting your music where it left off is beyond me.

just to be clear, it used to work that way. ios6 messed it up, and none of the updates addresed it. ios7 beta testers says it's still messed up, but that's just a beta, and may be fixed in the final version.

Then how do we get apples attention on something they are obviously ignoring. How do we report these issues directly to apple instead of endlessly discussing it in the forums that apple is obvioulsy not paying attention to?

My understanding is that devices like the ipod touch 4th gen won't have access to iOS7, so we may be stuck with this for the duration of our device usage.

i've reported it directly through the apple site, cause they don't read the forums, as well as reported some itunes issues. that will probably not accomplish anything. genius bar people don't know either. we don't have a good answer for getting their attention.

is there any way to downgrade from ios 6.1.3 to ios 5 again?
