iOS 6: Music playback issues?

After upgrading to ios 6 I've found an extremely annoying problem regarding music playback. iOS 6 doesn't seem to remember where you last paused a playlist, album, etc... it always starts back at the last place you originally started it.

For example:

I have an album with 12 songs. I start it on track 4, listen to a few songs on the way to work. Pull the headphone cord once I arrive and Music pauses as expected. When I return to the car for the drive back home, instead of resuming playback where I left off, it starts back at track 4 again.

Another example:

Let's say I want to listen to an artist, so I go to "All Songs" and just hit shuffle so it plays randomly. I listen to a few tracks here and there, skip a few, all is good. Just as with albums, when I stop playback and resume later it will always return back to the first song played, and play then back in the same order again.

Am I missing a setting or something? I searched the settings app may times and can't find anything even close. Does it have anything to do with me pausing the player by removing the headphone cord? Could it be some app I am using between pauses?

Never had issues with ios 5, so this is defenitely software related. iOS 5 used to remember where I last played music over days -- even if I were to watch videos on the iPhone or listen to Pandora between music playback.

Hey guys;

I just got off of the phone with Apple support and they have not experienced this issue before. I'm guessing that despite all of the people with this problem, no one has called Apple?

Regardless, I have a solution that they gave me and seems to have worked (so far). They said to go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings. You will not loose any data, but you will have to reenter any Wi-Fi codes, keyboards, wallpaper, passcodes, etc. that you have configured.

Hope this helps!

Alright...well for about 2 weeks I've been having success with resuming at the song that it was paused at. What have I been doing? Well that's my little secret.....haha...I'll share --- I unlock the device, go to Music, and pause it there. When I'm ready to resume, I unlock the device again, go to Music, and voila, it works!

IF I double click the home button and pause and/or resume from that shortcut, then most of the time it won't resume properly.

This is an annoying workaround, but it is one none the less.

Yep. I've had the same problem. Very annoying. Yesterday morning, I hit shuffle on one of my playlists. First song up was 'Magnificent Seven' by The Clash. Played that song and about 3 or 4 more. After lunch, put headphones on to listen to music while working. First song up? 'Magnificent Seven'. Hit next until I got to where I wanted to be. Listened to a few more songs. When I left work, I fired up my music again. What song came up? 'Magnificent Seven'. I love the song, but jeez. Never had this problem before. In fact, a few years ago, I played every song I liked in alphabetical order and never had this problem.

Apple's quality is falling fast.

I'm having a strange shuffle problem as well. iPhone 4, latest iOS. I have more than 600 songs on my iPod and no matter where I start the shuffle round, it ALWAYS restarts the shuffle playlist after exactly 12 songs. So everytime I start a new shuffle round, after 12 tracks I'm getting the same 12 tracks again.

Anybody experiencing the same? It keeps happening after resynching, even if I added songs or took some out.
