AppleTv update causes Itunes and USB connection picture. What the heck does this mean?

Updating last night causes the Itunes image and USB cable to be displayed along with a rapidly flashing power light. All previous updates never caused this. What do I need to do?

Thanks in advance

Happened to me too and I don't think being nice is warranted. Seems all the advice is that inconvenience is acceptable, even if we have to wait a few days or drive for over an hour. This is the last time I trust an update from Apple, it is obvious there is a major failure in QC, and insufficient error checks in the update software. Very disappointed, and the Apple store will hear all about it when I get there.

Same problem here!

I'm sorry Apple, but somehow am I really disappointed with you in the last week. I just want to update my Apple Tv quickly on a Saturday afternoon before a nice evening of watching stuff and now its bricked and there is no way I can get hold of a cable until Monday, great!

That happend in the very week that I turned my Ipad 2 into an ugly, ancient KDE-style looking clone of Windows 8 thats is slower and does not manage to update my installed apps until a number of restarts.

I bought Apple because its easy and it just works, since that assumption does not hold anymore I will get myself an Microusb cable on Monday. I will fix my Apple Tv, but afterwards I will use that very cable to charge my new Android phone!

MANY people are reporting they've had to try multiple micro USB cables to find one that works. I got one that worked from a neighbor.

Some people have also reported they've had to try the Restore process more than once.

1. Unplug Apple TV and move it to your computer running latest version of iTunes.

2. Quit iTunes if running.

3. Plug micro USB cable to the back of the Apple TV.

4. Power the Apple TV using the AC cable.

5. iTunes shoud either launch itself (a good indication that the micro USB cable you're using is compatible), or launch iTunes.

6. Click Restore. Software will download and install (big file).

What you are saying is that my network, that has been reliable enough for months of streaming movies and tv shows exactly broke in the 5 minutes the Apple Tv was in the update mode? Ok, stuff like this can happen, but what I dont understand is that the update is downloaded before. Afterwards, this update should not be corrupt or cause the Apple Tv to break.

Where I work, we take proudness in what we deliver to our costumers and if we deliver a corrupt image or cause the client troubles in any way, we try to communicate that and not wait it out. Apple clearly broke my Apple Tv by serving an image that caused me to buy a new cable that I dont need and at least 2 hours of my time to restore something that should have worked in the first place. And I'm surely not the only one with that problem.

All I am saying is that is, if Apple is really that proud in their craftsmanship they would acknowledge the fact that the update is broken, Say sorry and not send their blind fanboys to calm down the people that believed that the stuff they buy from Apple is working.

You are missing the point here. We did not make any mistake here, Apple did. I dont understand why I cannot ask for a clear communicated "ok, we broke the update". With the Apple Tv and with the Ipad. Do you know how frustrating it is, to have an Ipad for 2 years, looking forward to the new functionality and then its basically useless? Same with the Apple Tv.

I think this is not about a stupid cable, this how Apple treasts their customers. And I think, as a customer, I deserve better.
