iPhone 5 headphone volume too low

Has anyone else noticed that the headphone volume output with the iPhone 5 is considerably lower than with previous models?

I've checked the volume limiter and all the usual stuff, but I cannot find a way to make this "normal" again. Even on its loudest setting, it's sometimes not loud enough, especially for spoken word content.

Any ideas on why this is/can it be fixed?

"Settings->Music->Volume limit-> set it the max so you will see that volume limits is off"

This worked for my slightly deaf mother on an iPad with Bose headphones. Before: Max volume was way too quiet. Now: Acceptable volume is less than Max. Note that this also turns off the volume limit on Podcasts, and other applications (which is what she wanted).

Thanks!

Iris, I dont mean to be harsh but do you really think that in a topic of 121 replies no-one would have thought of that????

This is an issue with the design of the phone (most likely a hard coded volume limit) which cannot be solved by any of the settings, believe me they have all been tried.

This is APPLEs problem and they need to resolve it or risk losing vast numbers of their loyal supporters (of which I am one)

Sorry, but this solved my problem. The ear bud worked just fine when I got the phone in Dec 2012.

It stopped working well after the first software update.

When I put the volume control off yesterday, the ear bud are back working just fine with ehough volume to damage my ears.

I posted this soultion just in case it would help others, obviously, it does not work for you.

I am having the same problem, I brought Iphone 4s 10 momth before and it had a battrey problem so Apple store guys chaged the phone but with new phone the volume through head phone is so less. I use my phone to connect through headphone jack as aux, with my previous Iphone 4s i use to put music at 24 on car sterio but with new iphone4s i have to put it at 31-34 to get the same effect. I tried it with Ipod touch 4th generation and it was workgin fine, at volume 24 i was getting the same effect as my old iphone 4s. I went to the apple store the guy replaced the phone again but the problem is still the same. Just to do an experiment i took my freind Iphone4s who had been using it for more than an year and to my surprize the volume in my car sterio was excellent at level 24. No I am confused how to explain this to Apple guys.
