Don't do the factory restore. I have tried deleting my iCloud acct from phone, different wifi hotspots, deleting my last back up and all have failed me. When I reset my phone to factory settings (clean slate) and restored from my iTunes back up and tried to back up with iCloud....It still didn't work.

Ill try randers54's suggestion and see if that works. My last back up was 10/4/12. Its amazing that everyone that cant back up has a last back up around the same date. Hopefully there will be a iOS patch that will address this.

Kaptivator and everyone else. I tried everything and was at the point where Kaptivator is at. I called Apple yesterday. We determined that it is something in my phone since we tried doing it with a test account and have the same issues. The engineers are working on it now. I will post more once I hear back from Apple. Basically, something is going on where it is making the backup to iCloud time out.

Randers4. That was one of the 1st things I tried after I saw your post a couple of days ago. No luck. When talking with Apple, it looks like this may be something new since iOS 6. While talking with them yesterday, others were having this problem only with the photos not loading onto photo stream.

Kaptivator, the store might just want to send it in. That is what support told me yesterday. But they wanted me to wait until after the engineers say for sure. Support told me to that they will have me go to the store if the engineers can't get it. Is it backed up on your computer? That is where I am at, so I am still functioning.

Randers4-I tried turning off camera roll the first time and leaving everything else on and the back up failed. Once that failed, I turned every single app showing off and tried to do a back up and it failed. I'll turn one of the apps on instead of leaving all of them off and see what that does for kicks and giggles. But honestly, I doubt that anything will change.

Nickster3074-If the store wants to send it in...do they provide a replacement phone? I'm still under my Apple Care so I would imagine that they would just keep it for investigation and just give me another (wishful thinking). I really cant afford to be without my phone for a long period of time with schedules stored in calendar and important contacts and things of the sort. I am backed up to iTunes and I guess Ill just have to sync nightly just in case the worst happens. iTunes back up was the first thing that I did when I realized that my last back up for iCloud was 10/4/12. One question is this...If I back up to iCloud while tethered to pc through iTunes, does it back up to the cloud? If not clear I'll explain. When I clicked my phone and in the summary it gives you 2 options, 1. iCloud back up and 2. Back up to computer. Hope I am clear and if not, just let me know.

I am not sure. They talked about replacement phone if you take it in. I am I the same boat, I need it since I don't have another phone to use. I guess I will find out for sure when I hear back. As for the backup, it seems like my contacts and calendars go to the computer and iCloud since the test account got that far before crashing. But, I set it so it backs up to the computer like you are doing. Apple said to set the backup to the computer since that will back up everything. They also said that will give me my backup if we do get to the point where a new phone is needed.

Same date for me! 10/3 This is odd... I've also tried all of the solutions and noe of them worked. This is so annoying.

Today I read that in a couple of weeks they'll be realeasing iOS 6.0.1, hope this might help but to be honest I don't think so...

I need some other alternetive, have anyone else tried something else with luck??

The made a test account with mine to test the servers. That is what I am waiting to hear if it is that or something on my end. I also mentioned it happened right after I installed iOS 6. They are aware of that too. So, I think they are checking that also. They basically said to wait until I hear back. They said I should hear if it is the phone or on their end tomorrow. Hopefully, I will. Whenever I do, I am definitely posting what the answer is since this looks like a big issue.

Today, finally, all of a sudden it worked, I didn't do anything different.

But as I'm trying to figure out what happened or what was different I found out that the Internet connection at my work today was way faster than any other days, uploading at 20 Mbps and downloading at 22MBps.

That's way far from my speeds at home, I don't know if it's going to work back at home now that I managed to do a backup.

Probably the reason for the backups to be failing are the connection speeds, specifically the upload ones.

Hope this works for the others, maybe trying somewhere where the connection is faster.

Bruclin-I'm glad that it worked out for you, but that may not be the case for me. I have tried multiple hot spots and different wifi connections. My wife also has an iPhone 4 and she is having no issues updating nightly to iCloud over our home network. I have been trying different wifi hot spots every time I can find one. But hopefully you won't have any issues in the future.
