Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
After updating to this OS, I started noticing my WiFi slowed waaay down. When using speedtest.net, I'm getting 20+ Mb/s but everything on WiFi is slow to load. This is especially true with the YouTube app. This apps is practically useless with how slow it loads. After noticing that almost all of my apps were slowing down, I've concluded that it was the OS that is the culprit. Are there any fixes for this?

Same here! But I think I may have iPod Touch 3 not 4. But App store keeps crashing and all my apps are slower.
Hey folks...I ditched my Ipad due ot this. Have had an Android Phone for years. Girlfriend recently update iphone 4 to IOS6 and the down speed is 13 MBPS. my android phone...33 MBPS. My home wifi network has major bandwidth, so I know its not my router or incoming connection.
This appears to be completely isolated to the IOS devices. Im sorry...a $500-$600 phone...shouldn't have wifi issues. Fix it Apple if you want to have any chance to keep up with Android devices.
I have the same issues and it's really unacceptable from Apple! I'm on an iPhone 4 with the latest version of iOS 6 and if I'm connected to wifi my phone is pretty much unusable for anything Internet based - right now even though I'm at home I'm using 3G! I know it's not my wifi as my iPad is lightning quick. I've tried the reset suggestions here but they didn't help.
Even worse is I've only this morning switched off using wifi but this month since switching to iOS6 for the first time ever I'm close to using my network data allowance which makes me think all the times of incredibly slow wifi has the phone been using 3G?!
Apple - you need to sort this out!!! I didn't buy a wifi enabled smart phone to not use wifi. iOS6 is a joke! I only updated when google maps app came out but now I wish I didn't! (Google maps offers turn by turn navigation on iPhone 4 and your map app doesn't - beginning to think you don't respect your long term customers!)
With the latest version updated it's still toooo slow!!
Speed on my iphone wifi is also slow, but only when downloading podcasts...
Running 6.0.2 on iPhone 5.
On WIFI I can download a 45 mb app from the appstore in less than a minute. I can stream Youtube and Netflix with no problems. Internet browsing - no problems.
But downloading podcasts with Instacast 3, Downcast or the Apple Podcast app happens at a rate of 20-50 kb/s when on WIFI. As soon as I switch to 3g (I am in a european country where 4g/LTE is not yet available) my download speed goes to between 300kb/s and 2 mb/s.
I also had very slow download speeds for podcasts after upgrading my old iphone 4 to IOS 6, but will have to go back to check if the pattern is the same on that device.
6.1 has not changed this. Still podcast download on wifi is incredibly slow while other downloads work ok. This is not limited to iPhone 5. I have the same behavior on iPhone 4 and iPad 2 both running 6.1.
Hey Guys, Had the same problem, tried everything, finally I changed my wifi channel to 7. Both iPad and iphones 4s getting nearly 40mbps on speedtest! For those with auto detect wifi channel on your router, turn that off. Incidentally, im just using 11N only (2.4ghz). I know we are papering over apples cracks, but if thats what it takes!
Let me know if this is a fix!

Oh yeah... iOS6 has slowed down my iPhone incredibly. No other changes but it seems like night and day between last week and after doing the "upgrade". My MBP is running Snow Leopard and its a rocketship on the wifi. My iMac is hard wired so no big deal except lots of weird (sluggish) stuff with Mountain Lion, and my Logitech Laser mouse is useless.
Anyway... using twitter, the keyboard response on the iPhone is dreaful, and its taking forever to update a page. Internet is no better. I don't understand why somebody at apple doesn't go out into the real world and pre-test a new OS before releasing it to see if there are quirks that would make users less productive. This goes for both iOS6 and Mountain Lion.
I'll have to figure out how to change the wifi channel and see if that helps.
My $1,000 ipad is useless now. Frustrating beyond belief. My son's surface blows the ipad away. apple is a mess.

i just found out a solution. Turn on Wifi. Choose your wifi network, then click the arrow on the right side, then on the lowest portion where you can see Off-Manual-Auto, choose Auto..
No thanks to Apple for more poor quality and bloat. Wish I had gone with Windows8
Thanks! Switching from WPA/WPA2 to WPA2 only in the router settings totally worked for me. So happy to solve this long time issue!
im using 4s before this running ios 5.1.1 everything is very good until i update to 6.1.2..then the nightmare begins.. i got problem loading any social networking app (youtube,facebook,tweeter,instagram etc)..everything is very slooooowwwwww...my wifi signal is excellent but the internet speed is very bad..i though i got problem with the internet..but my friend phone (S3) using the same connection and the speed is very good...our intrnt speed are same when i use 5.1.1 before..feel so sad..i try everything..it is useless..suck..
IOS 6 ***** completely, the wifi and 3G is super slow on my iphone4s... after i updated... The bluethoot started having problems with the conections with my car radio and it has isues playing music with my new BEATS WIRELESS. The new map does not work in aruba at all, and apple doesnt fix it... GOOGLE MAP IS WAY BETTER THAN YOUR STUPID MAP, why you change then... Why cant we choose witch map app is our default? You should make our lifes easier not screw it... Why has apple changed from such a well working IOS 5 to this useless IOS 6... My phone makes a lot of errors and crashes the apps more often after i updated to IOS6...TIM COOK YOU ARE DOING A REALLY BAD JOB WITH APPLE... Im loosing hope in apple
