Music just disappeared on 32g iPod touch.

I was listening to my iPod when it stopped suddenly - I went to forward to the next track but it was then showing that there were no songs or artists loaded on it. When I plugged it into iTunes and click on Music, it shows a list of all the songs that were on it but shows the capacity of the iPod as being empty.

What gives here - how did it suddenly wipe everything and any idea how to get it back? Shouldnt there be a back up somewhere as I have it checked to back up to the same PC.

Appreciate any suggestions.....

I have the same problem but none of the above solutions seem to work for me...Even the random changing language thing and resetting to factory settings doesnt work. I can get about 30 songs from 10000.

Ok, this has happened for the second time in two weeks, both on Mondays. I suppose a restore will fix it again. But I want to know what is happening. Is there a bug at work here?

And it just happened to me again. The language trick didn't work. Playing a song inside iTunes didn't work. Resyncing takes about 30 HOURS since I have iTunes convert to 128 Kbps AAC. Anyone know how to downgrade to iOS5, which did not have this ridiculous bug?

I've had the EXACT problem for two days straight now. really beginning to hate using iOS.

yesterday all 4k songs disappeared. today all but 13 songs went missing. As I type this, I'm wifi syncing the 4k songs for the 2nd time in as many days.

I'm just about ready to give up on ios completely. really what good is it for when it stops working after you've used it for a long time. My 11 month old 4th gen touch is going up for sale on eBay and I won't be replacing it with another ios device. Apple, hate to say this but these antics and mishaps over the past year tells me you're spiraling downward. SJ would NEVER tolerate the mess you allow!

This is a huge, recurring problem. This just happened to me again for the umpteenth time, using iTunes 11.0.1 with an iPod touch iOS 6.0.1.

Tt worked for me but not all songs are restored. Still a lot of my music is till missing 😟

I have no idea how it happened, but I was downloading a mix outside the Apple store and suddenly, literally EVERY piece of music was suddenly wiped. I own a Grey 32GB iOS 8 iPod.

Strange. This thread has been active since 2012. One would think that Apple had learnt how to avoid a clear crash of the main application of iPods by now. It happened to me as well a few weeks ago. I had only tracks from the cloud, though, so I downloaded them again.
