iphone 5 camera spots

Has anybody else had spots on their camera shots? (See images below) It appears as if there are specs of dust on the lens yet it is completely clean. Looks like a trip to the Apple store is in my future.

Yup same here. I went to the genius bar today, and the guy was surprised and said he hadn't seen it before. He said he could see a speck of something inside the camera glass, but that there's no way to just change the camera so he asked if it's ok to give me a new phone. I backed up with iCloud the night before, so the switch was painless. Success!

I have posted here before, this is just an update. to recap: I got my iphone 5 in September, started seeing spots in November and took my phone in to the Gbar in December. They gave me a "new" phone. End of January, I start noticing that I have the same problem AGAIN! GRRRR! I take it in and they replace it once again. The next day I noticed that the phone they gave me works like crap. Constantly unable to complete calls, or even accept calls, unable to connect to the internet, even though I clearly have full service. I took it back 2 days later and they did a bunch of tests, and tried many things, but I ended up walking out with yet another phone. So now I am on my 4th iPhone 5, in 5 months. I love my phone, but it hasn't been very robust. I'm a little disappointed to say the least.

So guys, still no news on this area? A week ago one of my friends also started to notice the exact same purple lines/dots on his pictures. It seems, this is another serious manufacturing defect that a lot of iPhone 5 owners are experiencing... At least Apple admitted the power button failure and they initiated a repair program, but this issue still persists... 😟 And because it is a problem of the lens itself, the only solution is to swap the entire camera lens, which is even more expensive than the ribbon cable (which causes the power button failure). Do you think there is any chance that Apple starts a recall/repair program for this one too? I'm not keeping my hopes up... It's quite sad that I cannot really use my iPhone 5 as a decent camera anymore. I can't just subsequently remove this glitch from all of the photos I ever take...

The first time I had them, I was able to tap my phone firmly to one side and the spot (clearly something inside the phone) shifted out of the lens view. A couple weeks later it came back though. It shouldn't matter which Apple store that you go to, any should help you. Perhaps call them. I have found customer service at Apple to be fantastic. I daresay that they have the best customer service in the world.

Today I had my iPhone 5 changed for the second time, I bought it 4 months ago and after a week I discover was something shaking inside, went to the shop and got it change immediately with the one in the white boxe... just a phone!

Today after reading this tread I went to the shop and ask to get it replace again because of the black spots, I had actually 2 on all pictures, this is probaly going on since couple of months.

I got it replace again!

What is going on with this 5??

Bye from Saudi Arabia!

I went to the lincoln rd store in miami fl.

Talked to the manager and he did not want to hear about anyone else having this issue or what I was finding on the internet with other people having the same spotting issue. He claimed that they took it out back and opened it and saw that there was oil inside of it. They would not open it in front of me so I may see for myself. I have no idea how I would get oil inside the iPhone. They would not replace it like i've read in threads here. Not this manager not this store. ***** that my iPhone 5 photos suck with these grey light spots. It almost looks like someone placed there finger prints on the lense a bunch of times. I don't have apple care either which did not help. Now I'm considering buying the replacement rear camera from ifixit.com for $39 and replacing it myself.

Thoughts? thx

My experience was different. I was upfront with them about the fact that the problem started before warrantee ended and that the phone is currently out of warrantee. Same thing with two other posters on this thread (iiToby and Chrisliang82). Makes you think it's really up to the manager and different managers are doing different things. Worth trying if you care about the camera and even if the specks are small and unnoticeable now they tend to get worse over time.
