iphone 5 camera spots
iPhone 5, iOS 6
Yup same here. I went to the genius bar today, and the guy was surprised and said he hadn't seen it before. He said he could see a speck of something inside the camera glass, but that there's no way to just change the camera so he asked if it's ok to give me a new phone. I backed up with iCloud the night before, so the switch was painless. Success!
Purple spots all over each pic. Iphone 5 is 5 months out of warranty. Gave the Genius thing a try. No help, offered 270 for a new phone replacement. Actually ,after the Genius takes the phone in the back behind the stainless steel wall and taking it apart and blowing air inside, the spots are still there and huge splotches are now visible. The air can probably had some moisture and sprayed right on the camera. the Geniuses made it worse. Pretty funny. So, since there are many documented cases I think it is sad that a good phone like the 5 is now toast over a major feature. Time to move on to a more quality product. Bummer. Come on, Apple make this right for us. I want to stay but I cant unless the phone lasts 5 years.
I may try the camera fix. Pretty straight forward it seems.
Same problem here. Light circles in all of my pictures now. Will need to make a genius bar appointment and exchange the phone.
Jiserrab, did they give you a brand new 5 iphone 5 or a refurbished one? I have the same purple spot on my camera and have a GBar appointment so hopefully get it swapped!
i know what it is: its glass in your camera. its reflective, so it looks that way. i had the same problem and took it to my phone company and they looked at it. i still havent gotten it fixed
Sorry I think you made a mistake. You should have contacted Apple support via the phone. Apple stores are usually not that helpful when it comes to issues like this.
Found this which expains it Camera - Many iPhone 5 users may have experience taking a photo and see laser-green dots accompanying your photos. This is due to the flaring problem with the upgraded camera on the iPhone 5. http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/390052/20121002/iphone-5-problems-bug-fix-maps-ca mera.htm#.UHqRdIWG9z8
I have the same issue with my camera. There is one black looking spot on the screen. When zooming the spot gets larger and looks like digital noise. Anyone talked to apple about this and had their phones replaced?
Mine just appeared the other day. I think it is when my phone fell of the bed and hit the floor and jarred it loose. Purple dot on the let side. Very interesting. Like everyone said I will take back and see what comes out of it. It is not killing me yet.
i've got the same purple flecks on my photos too... and it's getting worse. it started as a spec but now, 4 months down the line, it's all over the pictures that i take! i'm 60 miles away from the nearest Appe store. does anybody know whether they will still swap for a new iphone5 even if i purchased mine from O2?
This is really sad given that the iPhone 5's camera is supposed to be one of the most powerful in the market. Anyway, one week after and the purple dot on my lens is still there. I hope it doesn't get worse. I'm sending my iPhone back to Singapore to have it repaired/replaced. I tried bringing it to an Apple store here in the Philippines, but I was told that they only accept units bought from Globe and Smart, the two PH network providers that carry the iPhone.
Hope you're able to resolve your problem, mate. Cheers!
Well, type something into google your certain will produce zero results and sure enough results there are! I suddenly developed a spot in my pictures that resembles a blurry dirty finger print. I use my iPhone 5 camera all the time and have been able to look back through my pictures and determine that this spot developed suddenly sometime after Monday the 18th 2013.
I work in construction and I've had my phone in some dusty locations with no problems. I've not been in any dust for the last two weeks. I've never dropped my phone and I know no one else has dropped it and not told me because no one else touches it.
I've made an appointment with the Genius at Apple.
You can see in the picture above there is a grey spot that is in my pictures now.
This picture was taken with my rear facing camera. My front facing camera works fine.
Tough to say... The broken screen probably takes priority over the purple spots in Apple's eyes. They could easily blame the camera spots on your neglect if they wanted too. I think you'll probably end up having to pay something for your replacement, tough to say how much. Make an appointment to see a genius if you're near a store and be super friendly, they do nice things sometimes.
OR when you show up for your appointment, you could drop your phone on the ground and say you're screen just broke, then they might feel bad for you and hook it up. Of course that would be dishonest...
Thanks for your reply. Yeah I thought of it too. Its been 3 times already when the phone was swapped and the same issue occurs. I knew also that it wasnt designed to take photos of the sun but maybe it only happens on Iphone 5 cause my Iphone 4s doesnt seem to have this spot.
Exact same issue here (purple dot on the picture).
I'm out of warranty, of course. I've just succeeded to calm down a little from my deep frustration because of the other problem I'm having (non-responsive power button, which is apparently a manufacturing defect but it is not admitted by Apple, see it here), and today I realized this other, which also seems to be a major flaw that a lot of people are having... this whole situation is getting bitterly ridiculous.
JUST after my warranty expired my iPhone 5 is instantly having TWO serious flaws that I am not alone with at all.
I never had any problems with my iPhone 4. Now with the iPhone 5 I am having the following: "scuffgate", clicking sound when pressing the upper right part of the display, broken power button, purple dot issue with the rear camera. I'm heavily regretting buying this phone...
My iPhone 5 suddenly has 2 orb spots and 3 purple spots. Lens is perfect on the outside. My phone has never been dropped and I am super careful with it. This is my very first iPhone I have ever owned and to have this happen is very upsetting. It is out of warrantly so it would cost me $270 for them to give me a replacement phone.
This problem is not a user issue. This is a defect in their manufacturing and they should be standing behind their product since this seems to be a common problem.
Not happy at all
