iPhone 5, iOS 6
Yup same here. I went to the genius bar today, and the guy was surprised and said he hadn't seen it before. He said he could see a speck of something inside the camera glass, but that there's no way to just change the camera so he asked if it's ok to give me a new phone. I backed up with iCloud the night before, so the switch was painless. Success!
I was just wondering, when you said that you replaced the lens. Did you mean the lens that's attached to the body or the actual camera? I can't seem to find a lens from Amazon, could you please point me to the right direction. My wife's iPhone 5 has the dark spot on every photo she takes. I would like to fix it myself. thanks in advance!
Hey what's up,
So I don't know if you saw my previous reply to your questions but not long after I replied, I received an email from Apple Support Communities Staff saying that they removed my response to you due to it "containing questionable advice." lol Wow, really!? How ridiculous! Not only was my advice sound and direct, but it was proven to work by a very clear tutorial that is easy to follow and one that I followed myself and successfully fixed on my first try.
So, Apple Support Communities Staff decided to remove my response to you and said that I should "Check that your answer works on your own computer before you post your Submission." Well, that's funny, coz I CLEARLY said that I fixed my own phone while watching the tutorial, therefore, the basis for my post removal was very much unfounded.
I'm sure the real reason that my response was removed is because I am showing you and others how to fix this purple spot issue for a very cheap price which obviously is not something that Apple is going to like people being able to do because if everyone starts fixing their own iPhones, then that means that people aren't going to pay the multi $100 price for a new replacement which means that my response is potentially taking away money from the company. But of course they are not going to say that in their "Post Removal Notification" to me lol
At any rate, I'm not surprise that my post was removed for the reasons outlined above. It's a business and that's just in Apple's best interest for me to not show people how to fix the problem so I'm not really too mad about it because I understand where they are coming from with not wanting me to post details on how to fix the problem.
I guess you could contact me privately if you want me to explain it again. Take care everyone and no hard feelings, Apple Support Communities Staff, I completely understand where you're coming from. It's all good.
Mine is over a year old as well. the one thing I've noted that I haven't seen mentioned is that the spot is present in my photos but as soon as i switch to video, it disappears. Is there a different set of optics for the vid camera?
I have spots too. Lens is clean. Any results from the apple store?
Haven't been into apple yet. Have an appt with gBar next weekend.
my iPhone5- got me crazy since there's a hot pixel (red color) when shooting in the dark room. Any of you facing that problem?
I'm having the same problem and its been bothering me for days!! If they swap my phone, do they have to charge you?
I have an appointment at the Genius Bar on Thursday November 22 (tomorrow). I'll let you guys know what happens after I talk to the guys. I hope they'll just replace my phone.
Good to know. There is no apple store near my house so hopefully they will ship me one. 🙂
Same wid me...its annoying me..😠..btw i got a purple shape something and a black dot..
Wow, that's great! I hope I get mine fixed real soon. I'll be happy even if they don't replace my phone as long as they repair it. All the best! :)
Question to those that have had a replacement: did your phone have to be in warranty in order for them to offer a replacement?
I'm having the same issue.
Good luck, keep us posted!
I'm having the same issue.I just realized it today, not sure how long this problem has been on my camera.
