Won't install on clean OS X: Error enabling server management.

Hi All,

I'm getting seriously fed up of Server.app.

I previously had it installed on my Mac Mini, but due to various reasons did a clean install of OS X. On boot, the only app I have installed so far is Parallels. My second app is Server.app, well it would be but it fails when trying to configure it:

Error enabling server management.

A problem was detected with Server. Please redownload Server from the App Store.

Obviously I did do this, to no avail. I also copied over a known working version of Server.app from another machine and got the same message. I mean what gives? Why isn't it even letting me install it?!

Fixed it, very odd. Looked at Console.app, it was trying to copy a launchd job into the /Library/LaunchDaemons/ folder, and for some reason it didn't exist so it failed. Created the folder manually and it worked.

Very very odd.. shoudn't this folder be installed by default?!

I have Mavericks installed and bound to Active Directory and logged in with my Domain Admin account and have the same issue. Looking at logs its like my user doesn't have enough access, however I can unlock the system and stuff. Using the local admin account fixed the problem for me when asked to login when starting Server.app.

I had this exact error also. I realized from the console "11/20/13 11:28:46.157 PM Server[2971]: ERROR: failed to obtain authorization for user 'GatorTPK': The operation couldn’t be completed. (AuthorizationStatus error -60007.)"

It was my user that didn't have authorization to complete the operation. The reason was that I had a blank password. It's rare for me to do that, but I never intended to use this installation later, and I never created a password. The moment I "changed" my password (added one), it worked.
