This is exactly why my wife and I bailed out on the iphone 5. After a short time, it became evident that there were numerous software and hardware uncertainties with the phone. When conversing with Apple cust service and genius bar, they were mostly non-commital about a fix and when it might be unveiled. They just gave the very generic statement that there would probably be an ios update any time that would address all the issues. After working extensively with one of their senior tech supervisors in Cali, it became very evident that Verizon and Apple were just passing the blame back and forth regarding the 4 issues I brought to them, and neither were going to commit to a fix. After a ton of emails, we finally gave the phones back and got a refund (like pulling teeth), and went back to ATT and for the first time in years, a non-iphone (Samsung Galaxy Siii).
The galaxy has been a far superior phone with a bit of a learning curve for android; but overall I'm happy with it. The phone quality is better in terms of sound quality / reception. The interface is different and at times, not quite as smooth as the iphone; but all and all, I'm absolutely certain we made the right decision to bail on the iphone 5. It wasn't thought out very well.
