Apple screws Ipad 3 customers with iPad 4

I purchased iPad 3 two months ago. Now iPad 4 is out and twice as fast. I just wasted 729 dollars? IS nothing going to be done for the loyal apple customers who believed our expensive purchase wouldn't be obsolete in two months? THIS HAS NEVER been apples policy in past to upgrade before a year. Very disappointed

I have a similar issue...my uncle asked what I wanted as a present and I said a new ipad came out with support for Australian 4G networks and to get that...it's the 'new' ipad. Of course he went into the store and asked for the latest 'new' ipad on 28/10 and they sold him an ipad3 which retailed for the same price as an ipad4.

So when I got it I was advised by the telco that my version was not compatible. I called applecare to ask them if I could swap it being 1 week out from purchase and of course they said go back to the store it was purchased from. No surprises the store doesn't want anything to do with it, they just want to get rid of their old stock.

Now I am stuck with an ipad which I did not want (I specifically did not want the ipad3 because it did not support our local networks' 4G) and Apple have washed their hands of it.

This is terrible policy...at first I was upset Apple or the reseller won't exchange it but really I don't blame the reseller now...my grief is in the stupid Apple naming policy..."oh it's the new ipad with retina display now" .... hang on a second the ipad3 was also the 'new' ipad with retina display (maybe not by name) and was never referred to as the ipad 3rd gen...now they're saying oh it's now the ipad3 you want the ipad with retina display...guess what your stupid naming convention means half the noobs out there don't know what they're buying.

The identical naming convention has caused my uncle to purchase an obsolete product for top dollar...I have an iphone 3g, 4, 4s, touch, etc. well I think it's safe to say android is the future. I'm already finding streaming media is made impossible by Apple's DRM and policies...something my $100 andoid tablet can do easy.

I have to agree matey the lack of 4G ***** big time, im left with a missold device.

Just adding a note on the ipad mini .My eldest daughter bought the ipad mini and after having a play with it for a few days i gotta say WHAT A HUGE DISAPOINTMENT THAT IS. The display lets it down so miserably and found it to be very eye straining in deed.As on the full size ipad the wifi ***** too .Downloads are painfully slow and how apple can even have said at the launch that they have got it right and the competiters have faild miserably is beyond me, that statement should really be " the competiters did get it right and we failed ". ..I have the google nexus 7 and left it alone for a few days to give the mini a trial period..Well they can keep the mini for me and i really apreciate what quality the nexus 7 truly is..The display is a pleasure to look at in comparison, its a whole lot faster, text is not fuzzy and the apps perform and look better too. Plus now its £100 cheaper for the 16GB version than ipad mini..Yes the casing is made from plastic on the nexus 7, but for sheer performance, display resolution, wifi and the cheaper price tag you can live with that no problems..As pointed out above Android is definatly the future and is evolving faster than IOS/apple is. Samsung/Google have now superseeded apples retina display with a even higher 300 ppi, i cant wait to see that display and when it comes into the stores next Tuesday i will be there cash in hand. The loyal apple fans will totaly disagree, but they always will. I bet secretly they have android devices too lol. Why have they deemed the word suck with a S on the end a word that needs to be blanked out with stars????..I think i know why lol, and a lot do too 😁 .

Not just the case, but the entire chassis is made out of cheap plastic! Don't leave it in the sun or it will warp LOL. Don't plan on taking any pictures with it either, because it has a 1990's style 1.2MP camera (verse iPad minis 5 MP). Also Nexus has no 64gb option and no Siri either, and has a smaller screen. But android tablets do offer something that is not on the mini though - viruses. Enjoy your plastic tablet 😉

mymac or can i call you Michael ??? Is that youre only argument lol, siri is crap for a kick off just like apples maps, they couldnt organise a P**** up in a brewery between them lol Hey & who takes photos with theyre tablet pc, c'mon lets be realistic here,so that argument is a no brainer..But hold on you own an android phone dont you!! so i guess you are a android fan but dont want to admit it..I would rather own a propper device that works rather than one that doesnt quite add up to the competition. The only argument they got is build but hey build is not every thing..Just admit it android ROCKS!!!..The ipad mini camera is really pixely so that one is a none starter too..

Why would you want to call me michael? Are you off your medication again?

Wayne 2e0bvj wrote:

Actually Siri is not crap. If you want to see crap then look at samslums s-voice. LOL 😁 As for maps, in case you didn't know this is Apple FIRST version of maps. When has ANY software of any kind first version ever been stellar? Let's compare both mapping programs in a year or so and see which one is better, eh? I use Navigon for my mapping needs so it's a non-issue anyway.

Actually over half of the people that I know with tablets use them regularly for pictures. Welcome to the real world. Last night watching the election I saw at least 5 or 6 people in crowds using their iPads for picture and video taking. Of course none of them were android tablets because no one wants to take grainy pictures. LOL 😉

Yes the valium is starting to wear off lol samslum eh , don't forget samslum components and screens are in youre ipad, so they must be good enough for apple..Yes theirs no 64GB version but we can use USB flash drives up to 64GB or higher if you use a HD for extra storage. so that kinda devalidates that argument..So youre that confident with apple apps that you have to use another mapping software for sat nav, that kinda says it all..

Nov 7, 2012 11:51 AM in response to MyApple8MyPC

Now onto the plastic build..The advantage of plastic is its cheaper and lighter too..The ipad is heavy bulky and has sharp corners thats painfull to the palms of youre hand as thats the most secure way to hold it..Hold it by the sides and the sheer weight makes it slide downwards..The ipad mini is so slippy youre constantly worried its going to slip out youre hands..Yes you can buy cases but then adds to the weight..With plastic none of this is an issue to me..Youre laptop is plastic so listen to youre own advice ref sun light in youre posting where thats concerned..The ipad mini screen & PCB's internaly are held in place by pot loads of glue as pointed out in a online strip down review, for build quality as claimed by many that does not amount to a quality build in any ones books. So corners have been cut there too .....You know we can argue bad and good points untill the cows come home, but at the end of the day its how the individual them selves find the products and which works the best for them. Lets be honest here, if we were all programmed to do the same & we all the did & liked the same things, this world would be a boring place to live indeed..Fortunatly were not and thats what makes us all individuals and some times it works and other times it doesnt, and we learn to live with that..So you have youre opionions just like i have mine ,its unfortunatethat those opinions clash but were not the first to argue this and certainly wont be the last, thats for sure..

I don't have a iPad. I wisely sold it as soon as I heard the mini was coming out. Sorry you couldn't figure out the same thing 😁

Wayne 2e0bvj wrote:

So you have to buy EXTRA equiptment and add it to your tablet? What happens if you need it but forgot it at home? No thanks, I prefer the BUILT-IN memory, thank you very much.

Yeah until you figure out that I've been using this app for the past two years. Oops, guess that kind of blows your argument out of the water. Like I said before, it's the details of the matter that make a difference. LOL 😁

I just discovered the forum, can see that the discussion is long...!

Apple doesn't say anything? So many people unsatisfied and they just don't care?!

I have the same problem: bought the iPad 3 on 2-Sep. and on 2-Nov. this model was discontinued! 2 months of "living" and already obsolete.

Sure, it doesn't seem to be a real problem, but It's pretty obvious that within moths new IOSs will be launched and sooner my iPad will not upgrade anymore.

Does anyone know how to contact apple by e-mail? To some sort of "complaints" department?

Mymac you will be pleased to know I have not accepted apple did no wrong & never will, nor will the millions of other naffed off iPad 3 owners either.. I don't think you read my posts where apple screwed us in the UK and other countries too. The first time this year was with regard to 4G. Future proof as regards to 4G we were told. Then told it will never work in the UK and many other countries either..Totally wrong frequency. I bought the 64GB cellular version and paid the premium price for 3/4G .Yes you can argue that you can tether it to a 4G phone , but I don't & didn't then want to do that hence buying a cellular version..So that's my 1st grief with apple as they totally miss old the iPad 3..Our iPad 3's are now worth a lot less than an a iPad 2 thanks to apple dropping it from their line up..The fact they dropped it sends out the wrong signal and gets people asking why?? Is their issues with them?? Why drop iPad 3 & keep iPad 2 at the same value ect..ect.ect..They dropped the ipad 4 on us like a bomb shell and then discontinues ipad 3 .Thats when the apple cart went sour..You can come on and disagree with us all until the cows come home. The fact is as consumers the consumer is always right and that's a fact in any business, wether you or carl or any others disagree with us is irellivent to the current disgruntled iPad 3 owners. Both of you are happy millions of others ain't .Look on the net were not the only ones..I see Carl never answered a previous post in this thread where some one asked if he works for apple??..
