Apple screws Ipad 3 customers with iPad 4

I purchased iPad 3 two months ago. Now iPad 4 is out and twice as fast. I just wasted 729 dollars? IS nothing going to be done for the loyal apple customers who believed our expensive purchase wouldn't be obsolete in two months? THIS HAS NEVER been apples policy in past to upgrade before a year. Very disappointed

I see a few of my posts got deleted from threads...good ol' closed garden system I see there Apple, really progressing. Applecare advised Apple stores cannot do anything if the ipad was bought through a reseller, so I'm stuck with an old product bought a week ago thanks to badly advised staff.

My nephew wanted a new ipod touch 5th gen and he went to various stores and some of the staff said the 'new ipod' is the one on display...which was a 4th gen. Lucky I was there to tell him (and the misinformed staff) that in fact it was the old one and they did not have the 5th gen one in stock. This is what happens when you name your crap THE SAME THING.

This is how Apple works, sell some shiny product and let the noobs live happily with paying top dollar for obsolete products because they see the logo and think it's the bees knees. Just as it did with the Macintosh you'll find that you can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. The initial innovation is lost with progress and the competition will catch up as Android has significantly and so has Win8.

Without some radical innovation I see the downfall of Apple beginning now.

Exactly, they can't distinguish anything themselves because if you look at the big picture, everything they sell is the same. I got screwed as well as many other for this reason, i'm just kicking myself that I didn't buy the Galaxy Tab 10.2 which my brother bought, would have been so much better off, instead of losing hundreds from Apple and their terrible timing and short notices when releasing new "products." I'm also annoyed at all the £100's i've spent on itunes and the app store, when I get rid of all my Apple stuff, all that will be useless, but there's Apple again, their bottom line...profit, infact it's their only objective, which is to make money of their "customers" which they treat like mugs.

Our iPad 3's are now worth a lot less than an a iPad 2 thanks to apple dropping it from their line up.

Not true, but why should you care, since you've never wanted to do the right thing and sell your iPad so you can get the 4? You're just like one of those spoiled brats that you see in stores that cry and whine until mommy buys you what you want just to shut you up. News flash, Apple's smarter than that.

What?!...there's no two ways about it, they did screw people who the bought the iPad 3 just before 4 came out.. they knew what they were doing, they are making money and that is our point...Apple is SCREWING people out of money, they don't care a single bit about those of us who bought one just before the4 came out. So far you haven't actually made any convincing points, you basically just coming in blind as anything trying to defend a multi-national corporation who takes your money and that's it...after that you're on your own and they expect people like you to keep coming back to apple to spend more of your money...and you do...however this is where some of us will stop and draw a line!

hang on mymac, so my uncle who is a noob (like most isheep) has gone into a store asking for the 'new' ipad (when the ipad 4 was released not as some of these people are saying they bought it 3 months before) and was sold an ipad3 should just accept it? at full price?

I understand as with any tech that as it gets updated your old stuff is not going to be as nice but this is a fault of poor education with resellers and bad sales tactics. And before you (like Apple does) suggest buying it at an Apple store, one is not always close by (some are hundreds if not thousands of km away).

This is a serious thought... If apple ever did go belly up for what ever reason then ipads, ipods ect could be potentialy totaly useless. No itunes means no apps ect. Should you ever need to do a full system restore then you would end up with just whats on the devices IOS firmware..Yes others could release apps ,but then with ios being a closed system how would you get these apps..Many will say apple is a multibillion dollar operation but that means nowt in the current climate..Apple is only as strong as the products they sell.If that dries up then thats inaplicable .Thats where Android shines plus many other reasons too..

Sorry but they didn't screw anyone! They came out with a new product to compete with competitors products. Since you apparently live in a cave you should know that Apple usually comes out with various new offering(s) just before the holiday season. Everyone knows this (well everyone except for a few whinners like you). Apple does this because it is a wise business move on their part. Just because you are ignorant about how business is run doesn't mean Apple did anything wrong. In fact Apple did the exact right thing by releasing the 4 now. It's the perfect time to introduce it. Just because they released a new product doesn't mean your 3 doesn't work. BTW, Apple has a 14 day exchange policy. It's not Apples job to send you to business school. I know many people who were waiting to buy a new iPad but they didn't because they knew that Apple would be doing something before the holidays. most of those people now own iPad 4's or mini's. If you don't have any common sense then explain why that all of a sudden is Apples fault. Time for you to put your big girl pants on, learn about buying products this time of year, and move on. Since you're obviously clueless about these kind of things watch the paper for incredible sales in a few weeks. It will happen on the Friday following Thanksgiving. It's called black Friday. I'm not making this up. You'll find incredible discounts for things on this day. Now you wait and see if this doesn't happen. BTW, it's not the stores fault if you buy these same products before that day. Weird.

If you go to a retailer and ask for the newest version of a product (any product) and they sell you an old product, that is (in my book) fraud. But guess what, it was committed by the STORE, NOT Apple!

Apple publicly announced their new product and wasn't hiding anything from anyone. If someone is looking to buy a new version of a product, then the savey shopper will of course FIRST go to the manufactures website to check it out and learn more about it. Then you would learn about such things as the new Lightning connector on the bottom of the unit. On the other hand, if someone blindly walks into a store and just blindly asks for a new product "trusting the store" then that is YOUR fault, not Apples. The store was in the wrong, NOT Apple. My advice, look before you leap, and buy from reputable vendors.
