Apple screws Ipad 3 customers with iPad 4

I purchased iPad 3 two months ago. Now iPad 4 is out and twice as fast. I just wasted 729 dollars? IS nothing going to be done for the loyal apple customers who believed our expensive purchase wouldn't be obsolete in two months? THIS HAS NEVER been apples policy in past to upgrade before a year. Very disappointed

Its certainly not worth the 2nd hand value it would of been worth before apple discontinued it.What beats me up more is why are they continuing to market the ipad 2 over the ipad 3rd gen.Apples certainly lost the plot on this one. That certainly aint "AMAZING" or FANTASTIC or what ever over exagirated word they choose to use for their products ..

Hi

It's back from the launch day in march , however a friend

has spoken to another apple store in the same city

And was told no not unless it's within 14 days!

So now I'm not so sure what I was told is correct

But will be ringing them again tomorrow to clarify

Before going the ASA route and claiming

They miss sold the iPad 3 with reference to the

4g capabilities in the uk. which the advertising Standerd authority

have already been Looking into! Hopefully apple will see sence

And swap it out for me

I, like a lot of you feel really let down by Apple on this one. I received my new iPad on Monday from an authorised Apple reseller here in the UK.

After speaking to my local store here in Leicester, they have said that they will only honour a 30 day exchange for iPads purchased in an Apple store so looks like I am out of luck and my shiny new top of the range £400 iPad is now worth £60 less than it was yesterday. The reseller has said that the iPad can only be returned if faulty.

Does anyone else here have a similar issue having bought an iPad from a authorised reseller rather than Apple themselves? If so, it would be good to hear if anyone has had any better luck than me. I believe apple should take back all new iPad 3's purchased in the last 30 days from all retailers as long as there is a proof of purchase. Surely this is fair?

My email to Apple,

Hi, I never complain and if anything I am one of your most loyal customers, I have an iMac, Apple TV, iPhone 4S and an iPhone 5, and 2 weeks ago i purchased an iPad for my university work. Problem is with the new release it immediately outdated my iPad, so I phoned up and was made aware of being able to take it to an Apple store and within 30 days be given a 4th gen one. But this had to have been purchased in an Apple store, my iPad was purchased from a high street retailer here in the UK called Argos, its a huge chain and I paid the £399 RRP for it, yet as it wasn't bought directly from Apple (which the nearest store is 120 miles away) I am stuck with it. Also with the new retina display Macbooks, my 6 month old laptop is know also worthless. I buy every new Apple device, and even in my job always recommend iPad and iPhone over everything else, if new devices are going to come out every week then I am going to seriously consider giving up and going for the alternative. I love Apple just thought I'd say something as the love is ending a bit.

Regards,

John McCullough

I did get a call back from the manager at our local Apple store. It took a bit, but he agreed to approve a full return (not an exchange) as long as I brought it in today. I just got back, and the return went smoothly. I bought mine on October 5, so I can't say if the 30-day window is open for everyone or that every store will approve a return past the 14-day standard window.

I would suggest that you call your local Apple store and ask to speak to a manager. Frontline staff are unlikely to be able to bend the rules or extend return periods. And do it quickly, as I suspect with each passing day it is going to become more difficult to get any flexibility out of them.

If you're already beyond the 30-day period, odd look very slim that you'll be able to do a return, but it may be worth checking. Good luck everyone. I hope Apple does the right thing for each of you.

I agree It’s a dreadful move and like so many who have already commented on this here, I am four months into ownership of the Ipad 3, so to find I have an obsolete product,

Sadly for those of us old enough to remember, this is not a new thing for Apple to pull, in fact it’s a return to original their form that nearly cost them the business back in the day. I was a foolish supporter of the Apple Newton, bought all the bits and bobs and thought it was the future (which it was) I even paid to go to a developer day at Apple headquarters, got all the hype from the Apple bods told about all the great things coming for the Newton. Less than 8 weeks later they dumped the product completely, no more support or anything just gone.

So to all you younger Apple buyers welcome to original Apple without its great leader, I felt the Keynote speech sucked out load, and the attempt to positively spin the Ipad 4 release only months after the ipad 3, as painful and insensitive to those of us who foolishly adopted the 3.

My experience with Newton all those years ago is what kept me on PC products, as I never really trusted Apple after that, but like so many I got on board with the Iphone 1 - 2 - 3 and 5, then Ipad 1 -2 before the 3, I was actually thinking of getting a Mac desktop next month and moving my business on to them in the new year. Well unless Apple announces a swap out on the 3 for a 4 for owners with less than 6ix months of ownership in the next few days I will have bought my last Apple device.
