IBooks 3 crashes on start up on iPad 1

I updated to iBooks 3 last night on my iPad 1. iBooks now crashes whenever I try to start it. Is anyone else having this issue and can anyone offer a solution? Also, is there any way to revert to a previous version of an app?

Thanks, I already tried your suggestion (as well as the others on here), sadly it didn't work. I even went as far as deleting the pdf files out of itunes to see if that would help. reloaded iBooks from the app center on the ipad directly to ensure it was a clean file....still crashed.....deleted it, did it again, didn't sync books to it even, tried to just open iBooks with nothing in it, and it crashes.

Hello All,

We'd like to gather some more information regading this issue. If you have expereinced a crash on launch of iBooks 3.0.1, we would like to examine the resulting crash logs. Please email me <royb@apple.com> with the following information.

2. Do you have PDFs in your iBooks collection, if so were they synced from iTunes or downloaded on the device and then opened in iBooks?

I am not entirely sure if that will work. Apps (even free ones) are usually tied to an account via DRM. Even though, Cool Games is legally using iBooks as long as it has registered any version. I think iTunes will not allow to install iBooks app package coming from a user for which the computer is not authorized.

Have I understood correctly your suggestion? I would like to 'go back' in another registered edition of mine, and while I have unfortunately lost that version (my backups are too recent for that version), I know someone who still has the older version I am interested in.

Was your idea installing this older version using some part of the newer version to circumvent iTunes?

By the way, I am still using iBooks 2.2.1 in the 16GB device, just in case. And, as you mention, it works like a charm.

Richard,

You are correct and as an update , I have found iBooks 2.2 in a archive from another system.

I used to use Mac Book Pro on same system as Mini and MBP maintained the iTunes for the

iPad generation 1. When I tried to upgrade to Lion, I found it easier to copy my whole user directory

to time capsule as a file server not a snapshot of time. The Intel Solo is forced to stay at Snow Leopard

and the iPad stays with it using xCode 4.2 for all my iPod Touch devices also.

The MBP is pushing on Lion with xCode 4.5 and iPod Touch Gen 4.

Family has iPhone 4 S and later iPhone 5 to keep current.

I still like my iPad gen 1 except for iBooks risk.

It is my primary app as I am reading PDF's for developer slides as well as WWDC 2012 videos.

Apple TV 1st Gen is also served by Mini with a TV connected to stream developer videos.

There is life after two years as long as you stay in the past.

iMac G5 OS 10.5 with OS 9 was scrapped so Mini with Rosetta is saving PowerPC Adobe Illustrator CS2 investment.

My Apple II GS OS 6.5 is used with Bondi iMac G3 OS 8.6 to read old floppies & CD's burned in the 1990's

I even use old Kurzweil software to run MIDI as it was before General MIDI came about.

I won't use the TANDY or TRS80 too much but could if I wanted.

The AMIGA's have been idle for a while too.

My interest is in streaming VIDEO so 4G & LTE are current interests with 8K HDTV in future plans !

But still reading PDFs and paperbacks and maybe an occasional hard cover !

Have a Happy Holiday & let's see what Apple does in 2013 !
