Good morning. Wellll...for most of the trip sound was fine. Clark was very happy watching sesame st and playing his games. When we were almost to Newport we pulled off at the beach and I wanted to take a pic with the iPad. I thought I couldn't hear that beautiful 'click' again! I pushed the button on the side to turn up volume and the button acted as the picture taker. Weird. Maybe that's an original setting. So, I go back and did what you suggested as far as resetting. I had to do it twice more during the remainder of the day. It is working this second! Man, I don't know. I sure appreciate your help and at least it IS working right now. Unless you have another suggestion ill click that your fixed my problem. Have a super day Pittsburgh!

If you have to keep resetting the settings, and it works after you do that, the only other thing that I could think of to suggest is to restore the iOS software. But if it is working for you when you reset the settings, I hate to see you go through all of that right now. The behavior that you saw with the volume button is very odd as well. I guess there is something that causes the setting to go bad on occasion and a restore of the software could cure it permanently - and there is a chance that it won't work either.

So anyway, that's all that I would suggest in the way of software troubleshooting and I would be inclined to not take that approach just yet. I wonder if you have an app that is causing this bizarre behavior to occur. I just thought of that when you mentioned your grandson watching Sesame Street and playing games.

Can you pinpoint exactly what you were doing when the problem started? Had you just downloaded an app or done something different with your iPad?

Hello, again! I'm suspicious of one game I updated, though I could have updated a few things at the same time. I'm to the point where I don't mind, I just want a properly ...sound just stopped....working iPad! Ha! Now sound just started again! Very frustrating. Should I delete all suspecting aps? Most if the things I have are free ones. Or would ou suggest something else? Thanks once more!

The nice thing about deleting apps is that you can always download them again. The downside is if you have data in the apps - unless you backup the iPad - you will lose the data. So I would suggest backing up your iPad before you start deleting stuff. This explains how to backup and how to restore from a backup.

If you think that there is an app or game that might be worth deleting, give it a try. You can always download it again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID that you used to purchase it.

Hi. :) just finished backup and deleting the game app which I think was the culprit. I also deleted some others I might have downloaded at same time. Do you think it would be safe to download any if them again? The questionable one was from the maker Big Fish and was a card game I enjoyed. Thank you again, Demo, I appreciate your help and time.

Sure you can try downloading them again. I would download one and see how it goes. If that one works and you still have sound, then download another one and see how that goes. Just keep repeating the process until yoy find the one that was causing the problem - assuming that you do find it. If you do download the culprit again, delete for good and just forget about that one.
