OK - here's the better fix! If you are running iTunes 11 on Windows 8 and iTunes crashes when you go to the iTunes store, you just need to copy a dll file: Dopying the QTMovieWin.dll from c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\ INTO c:\program files (x86)/iTunes"

I'm stumped. I've tried all these things, with the exception of the "file attribute" solution. When I open itunes, regardless of compabibility or admin status, I get the message "itunes has stopped working". I don't see something called "my music". I went to music but didn't see anything that said file attributes. Where might I find this?

And, has anyone else found a solution? I'm willing to try anything. I bought both a new phone and a new computer this summer. My old iphone and old windows 7 worked beautifully, but now I can't get music on my phone. Everything else I can sync through the cloud, but I don't have music any more; it's all stuck on my computer without a way for me to download it.

I've also looked for alternative ways to get music from my computer into my iphone without itunes, but so far, no luck.

I usually never answer but time times, I think it worth it. So, for all those of you that install, uninstall, reinstall, with defaut or personalise setting during the iTunes install and when you click on iTune the first time and it never show up, everything was perfect. The only problem that stay there is your "My Musics" directory. The only thing that you need to do is make sure you have acces to your "My musics" directory under you account. The problem occurs because you probably backup every file on an other OS and restore your document on the newly installed Windows 8. By doing this, you also restore the security associated with your "my Music" directory and by defaut you don't have access. That's why when you search for "iTunes" it does not even find it under the users directory because you don't have access. After clicking/opening it, Windows ask you for the admin right to acces this folder and at the same times fix the security issues here. Now you can try to open iTunes and remove all the compatibility setting that you probably already tried. I hope this help others fixing the Starup of iTunes problem on Windows 8 Pro.

PS: Like this comment if it works for you so my answer will help others fixing their issue.
