Can't install OSX downloads "Disk doesn't meet requirements"

Brand new Mac Mini 2012 2.3 quad Core i7. When attempting to install any Mountain Lion updates downloaded from Apple support site (10.8.2 or 10.8.2 Supplemental update) Installer will not proceed and says "Can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements..."

Happened on two identical brand new mac Minis with no other data on them, and Apple senior tech support said they had never seen it and had nothing else to try after wiping the drives and reinstalling several times.

Just curious if anyone else has seen or could duplicate this issue.

Late 2012 iMac and Mac mini need a special Mountain Lion update > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1603 It will update Mountain Lion to 10.8.2, so Mountain Lion will be up-to-date after you apply this update

I do not know if this would work for Apperture or not, but after buying my nice new Mini this weekend from the apple store, which noone mentioned the issue ( i am sure they knew ) and then finding out this issue. Sure I guess I could have look here first, but not expecting it. The main thing I wanted to see is how much better FCPX would work over my 2009 mini and seeing I could not install it or update the mini. The update downloaded from thier website would not install stating the hard drive did not meet requirments like others as well. After a couple of days of boredom of not being able to try it. I decided to drag the FCP from my MBpro to the Mini and try it out since it is linked to my same Apple account. It loads and runs, it complains about needing 10.8.2 but allows me to continue. It seems to run fine and has not crashed yet. It at least alows me to run it until they get the fix.

I'm following two different threads related to my new Mac mini and just realized that this thread has only 4(5 now) pages. I would think that this issue would effect the same amount of people as the 'video blinking' problem. I guess because the inability to update is not as noticible as the video blinking out, but still...the video thread has grown by 14 pages in the last week, three pages here in the same time. Nearly 10 times the replies and about 30K more views than this thread.
