Import Media & Export

When I finish filming I take my sd card out of my camera and plug it in to my computer. It always used to be that when it was done importing i would unplug the sd card. Now, whenever its done importing and I take it out, all the media turns red and says it needs a camera, and when I click on share to share to youtube or facebook or just export the media, everything is unable to click on. So I cannot post my projects to Youtube or Facebook, please help me! I need to have the help asap thank you!

@Inivincible I dont think this problem is you. I've been working professionally with FCPX for over a year and have just ran into this problem with the 10.0.6 update.

I can import 20 files with the new Import feature and there will be about 25% of that batch that will be referenced and not copped. What's weird is that some copy and some reference within the same event. I have been able to recreate this so its not user error. After two days of trouble shooting, the only solution I could find was to delete the clips from the event and re-import.

I know this isnt a good solution, but thats the best I have right now.

I am still having rendering issues being slow. Nothing seems to help. I really and disliking the update. I will be getting a new laptop with all the bells and whistles and hope that it is a bit better by then. I am starting to produce more video so I need an application that is quick and responsive and fast at rendering to a final movie.

I too am having this problem.

I selected to copy the clips, I get several errors stopping the import process, but all seems to work fine. When I go to "Share" or export a video it fails telling me the project is referencing the media on the camera... but there are no clues as to which clip, or which file, or which camera it is from or...

When I look in the transcoded folder, everything seems to be there...OK - I just manually checked over 100 clips and they have all been trancoded, so... makes me think that we aren't referencing anything from the camera media...

>sigh<

I am having this issue too... I have produced a short. And I imported all the files the same way from an external drive. Now with the drive attached it is saying the camera isn't attached (for only four of the truckload of clips!). Well it isn't a camera. IT is a proper labeled folder. And to reconnect it I have had to do an import files back to the original footage to get it to reconnect. I could not do the regular reconnect because it would not appear. It appears to connect when I re-import, render etc. And now it will not let me export it because it is saying that "This item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera". I have read through all the suggestions above. I have checked and the orignal files appear in the Final cut events folder... what am I doing wrong? I have had such spotty luck with Final cut pro X that I long for my past speed of years gone by of Final Cut Pro 7. I have had to un installed twice, lost two projects had to start from scratch because they were corrupted some how, and still I hit walls like this on a daily bases. Help!

ok so i hope this helps you. i had the same problem, with the error message saying that it could not share because of camera referencing, or whatever it says. apprently final cut seems to be taking its time transcoding and analyzing and importing my files. if you go to windows on the tool bar>background tasks, and you should see all of your media and it says importing media and it shows that all of my files were being imported, which is why i could not upload it. on my previous version of final cut, it never did this but once i upgraded to the new version, it had this problem. hopefully this helps you.
