I'm having the same problem! My once perfect iPhone 4 got ridiculously hot 3 nights ago and then wouldn't hold a charge, took it to the Genius bar who said my battery was fried so I got a replacement phone. Then that replacement lost it's charge within 3 hours of standby, took it back AGAIN and my 2nd replacement is fine, as I haven't updated the software and won't!

Am now having massive problems with my iPad 2 doing the same thing, it just won't hold a charge and dies after about 3 hours, when it's been absoltely fine before. I've tried restoring it and turning everything off, to no avail. Plus, I don't like having to turn everything off and I shouldn't have to as it loses half it's functionality! I hope they fix this soon before I have to go back to Genius to try and get a replacement iPad.

I know of a fix for this.

1. When not in use TURN YOUR PHONE OFF! Keeping it on Silent and locked in your pocket uses up battery.

2. Turn off ALL location services, bluetooth.

3. Downgrade to IOS 6 or 5.1.1 (most likely to work)

Just downgraded mine to 5.1.1 and it is working fine again. Left locked on silent overnight (9hours) and it went down from 100% to only 98%.

On IOS 6.0.1 , I left on 100%, locked and on silent, 9 hours later it would need connecting to a power source.

Hope this works for you guys 😁

I've read many many many posts about this subject...I have an iphone5,32Gb,and of course having the same problem. This is my first iphone, using a week so far and already disappointed. If u guys hear yourselves,u are literally saying "don't use this, don't use that.Turn everything off etc". Is this how I will use my phone? Did I pay for this? Cause if I turn everything off,it turns into a basic telephone which I could buy may be 10 of them with the same price. Apple,is this how u treat your customers, closing your eyes and ears ? 😐

I have the same problems as you people!

I bought my iPhone 5 (64gb) for christmas, and it's battery drained realy fast, even when I didn't use cellular data. A week later I changed it to another one, with the same specs. The battery was much better, though it still was a bit unsatisfying - after a day of use (about an hour of surfing on 3G, 2-3 hours of gaming and an hour of using utilities) I had about 55% left. Yesterday I upgraded to 6.1, and today it drained from 100% to 34% in 5 hours, though I used only for about an hour for gaming. I was expecting 6.1 to fix the battery drain issue, but it only made it worse. Though, I've heard that users claim having a better battery life on 6.1. Does this mean that there is something wrong with my device in particular?

You at least had a day of standby. Mine drained even in standby, all apps closed.
Though, after the battery went to zero and then was charged to 100%, it's a lot better now. I had 80% left by the end of the day, and I've been using the phone quite actively. Probably, a full cycle normalizes the battery performance.. Those who are experiencing the same problems should try it.

Same here, except for phone model. I have an iPhone 4S.

I upgraded to iOS 6.1 yesterday. Today, my phone went from 100% to 30% in less than 3 hours! I was using it, but no more than usual, and generally it would last until 6pm, not 10am!

I downloaded the SystemInfo free app. It shows 30% "User" CPU usage -- with NO other apps running (force-quit them all). Two of my friends with iPhone 5s (iPhones 5, I suppose, really) showed 3% and 7%. Turned off the phone. Turned it back on. NO other apps running, again. 60% User-space CPU usage! So it was running ... *something* at 30+% CPU *all the time*. The phone is really warm all the time and drains the battery at an insane rate.

It's pretty clearly correlated with my upgrading to iOS 6.1. I think Apple needs to own up to having broken something and very quickly release a 6.1.1 update to fix it, or at the very least provide details on a work-around to avoid the problem.

Regards,

Stephen
