iOS 6.1 - Still without wifi (grey out button) - grrrrr :(

After installing iOS 6 on my iphone 4S, I couldn't get wifi anymore. The button is dead. This is known in the community after checking the Net. After weeks, today I finally installed the latest upgrade (ioS 6.1), announcing wifi problem is solved out. Wrong - it is still not working!!!! In Belgium this causes a hard problem as 3G or internet via mobile is rather expensive. So it blocks me.

I am really surprised and disappointed to meet this kind of problem. I am (maybe have been!) an Macholic since almost 30 years. I never had this kind of problem not fixed after such a long time. Is Apple becoming untrustable as Microsoft gas factory? Hope not!

Can any one from Mac give me an answer?

You may have already tried this but will throw my 2 cents in.

Open your settings, open General, scroll down to Reset, Reset All Network settings, it will ask you to confirm, YES, you loose no data but will have to log back onto the wifi.

Reset network settings doesn't work for me.

In my case, I can enable wifi, I just get a message that the iPad

"cannot join network". For all networks I've tried

(which is many - airports, hotels, cafe's).

i tried switching off cellular data and restricting it completely to wi-fi. Then turned off my phone, after i turned it back on I was able to use wifi again?? strange??

I took my iPhone 4S in today, if its still on warranty I'd suggest you send it in and they'll give you a free replacement. I had this bug since iOS 6.0.1, thinking iOS 6.1 would fix it.

Violetta, it seems the problem lies within the iOS 6, and unfortunatley it seems there's no solution, yet, in sight.

Wi-Fi on my iPhone 4S stopped working today, just a few days after I did the latest iOS 6 upgrade.

Did the iPhone restore and all possible resets and suggestions, but to no avail.

After talking to an Apple tech rep, I was told that my iPhone can be replaced at no charge since it's still under the warranty, but I'm in no rush to replace it 'cause I'm sure the problem is not with the hardware.

Hope Apple can fix this widespread wifi software glitch soon.

So I took my new iPad 4 into apple, and they swapped it.

Now I can connect (at least to all 2.4 and 5GHz wifi APs I've tried)

So I'm beginning to wonder if some of this widespread problem does

have a hardware component, which is why apple is doing nothing. They

can't. They just need to wait for all the disgruntled consumers to take

their ipad/iphones in.

Apple would never admit to a hardware problem - that would kill sales.
