so I just did reformat and reinstall my MBP to 10.8.2 and so far fixed the problem! so I go straight to Appstore for update and I just saw update for safari v6.0.2and itunes v10.7..... wasted my time

clearly Apple didnt test first the new update 2.0 before releasing to public!!!!!!

I just talked to an AppleCare adviser and she told me that this is a known problem which is being worked on at Apple and will be fixed by a new update to be released during the next couple of days. So I decided not to clean install now but rather wait for the update fix.

I posted tis in another discussion, but this is also related to the MacBook Pro Software Update 2.0

I have a summer 2012 MacBook Pro (non-retina) with an internal SSD as the starup disk. I have an external disk connected to it via FireWire 800 for using Time Machine, as well as an external monitor (30" Cinema Display).

When I'm through with the machine I always select "Sleep" from the Apple menu (since closing the lid would just put the computer in clamshell mode). Then I close the lid. This has always worked as expected.

However, since I installed the MacBook Pro Software Update last week, things have been different. When I close the lid of the sleeping machine, the external disk wakes up, starts to spin, and then goes back to sleep. The monitor, which was dark, flashes on, as if the machine is waking up, and then goes immediately dark again. So it seems as if closing the lid of a sleeping MacBook Pro briefly wakes the machine up.

Has anyone else observed this behavior?

I had same issue keychain login issue, facetime iMessage login issue, Calendar login issue, screen flashing On/Off when I tried updating from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2.... so what I did to fix the issue was to clean install straight to 10.8.2 and so it solved the problem. BUT now the issue with 10.8.2 is you cant get your HDMI external display work using mini display port

So, after a long time of research i found a little temporary workaround for the problem.

In my case i had following issues:

    - many Password questions (keychain problem)

    - write Error on all Disks

    - cannot open Settings in

    - etc...

Sometimes after a reboot it works fine, but often i have the problems.

So, if the problems are present, i can solve it be doing following things:

    - kill

    - restart Finder

then it will work for the rest of the day.

I think it´s a possible solution till Apple will publish the new Update.

    Until now seems to work

Mail (3 accounts connected) works, contact and calendar sync is logged, facetime is logged, light sensor is working, I can open the settings in mail and open and close the application correctly... )

as it is for now, than it's good

I restored the state of my Mac from TM to avoid the old 2.0 update... and now the new update isn't available on app store! Anyone with the same issue?

Is it this one - - released yesterday?

  • ampdeck Level 1 (0 points)

this update is applicable only to those who updated from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2... if you did clean install using 10.8.2 then this update is not applicable and wont install.....

I saw that it was only for some 2012 models, I believe - was hoping that was the 'patch' that everyone was looking for - I know that it wasn't applicable to my late 2011 MBP.
