Can't update from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2

We are upgrading our Macs to Mac Minis in our office. I have currently set up at lease 6 of them and upgraded from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2. The mini I am currently working on does not display the 10.8.2 upgrade in the app store. The iPhoto update is displayed but won't install because I do not have 10.8.2. I have downloaded the 10.8.2 combo and the 10.8.2 but it won't load. the message is "the volume doesn't meet the requirements for this update". This is the same machine as the others I have just updated. They are all brand new. Please help!

The combo updates are for the earlyer macs, but the 2012er versions have a special 10.8.2 build,

i tried to download the special combo update for my mac mini 2012 but the download link

from apple is removed too!

i think we should wait 😟

Like everyone else here, I fell into this same rabbit hole. Didn't take too long to figure out that the 10.8.2 update was missing, the only really confusing part was how the combo updater that was available wouldn't install. Was that among the reasons the update were pulled or did Apple work some magic to keep it from installing while they worked on the issue? I was annoyed at my own bad timing I guess more than anything. I bought the Mac Mini to be able to work faster and better with my 20,000+ photo library. I intended to bring the Mac home, update it, purchase Aperture which is supposed to be much better at handling large photo libraries and then spend the weekend importing and futzing with my photos.

What's that they say about the best laid plans?

Well I'm holding out hope that Apple can get something resolved on this before everyone leaves on a Thanksgiving break. If not, it's not the end of the world for me and I'd rather not think or wish for Apple employees being told to work over the Thanksgiving break on my accord. If they don't get it fixed before then, I'm sure it will be fixed in due time.

The utility is in attaining additional escalation of this important and high-impact problem. It's Monday and I still have zero use of Aperture on my new $900 product. That's a severe lack of utility. Apple should know how many users are impacted, and how. I'll post more updates about the things I'm unable to do, as will others. You don't have to read them, but I hope Apple does.

Me too.

Apple's engineers seldom peruse these forums. Just too many things going on. Your only options are to File a bug reportwith Apple, but note that it mostly goes through marketing and sales w(hen it might get to the engineers is anyone's guess) or report this issue directly to Apple's engineering by sending a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. Register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. You'll get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering and you'll be able to track its status.

There is no need to file a bug, Apple are aware of the issue. Likewise Apple are aware of the forum thread, they just choose not to communicate with any of the users facing the issue.

It is just a shame that they don't feel compelled to communicate what is happening. It shouldn't take every user to go through the issue of trying to work out what is wrong and wasting a lot of time, when Apple could instead just own up and manage expectations as to when there will be an update.

It shows a lack of respect for the people who pay for their products. Of course it doesn't have any real consequence for them, because if it did they would do something about it.

I think it is valuable for people to communicate if the issue is affecting them. How else could you ascertain whether an issue is endemic.

The fact is if Apple communicated properly that there is an issue and how it is being dealt with, people wouldn't feel the need to spend their time trying to work it out and then the need to post to the forum regarding the issue.

Can't update from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2
