Can't update from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2

we didnt pay for this machine to have buggy software.... impossible

It's taking apple too long to solve this problem, I've got the new 13" retina just migrated from an old mac it down grade my mac back to 10.8.1, since then my retina been stuck with that, it's been almost 3 weeks, I can't use my iphotos......

Had a call with Apple Care in France. The guy told me to wait until next week but didn't confirm that it will be solved by then...

the same ******* issue here.... what we can do.. we need a solution right now, i cant install many app for work and i cant be waiting for

I had to do a heck using the text terminal to fool the Mac into thinking that it had 10.8.2 so I can install the latest Aperture software. I hope this will do until Apple figures out the problem.

to be able to use this u need to have the 10.8.1 version of mountain lion osx, if u have a lesser version, this download will not work for you.

As has been stated several times in this thread...this update does not work on 2012 Macs that are still running 10.8.1

Same problem here. Can't update. Called Apple in Brazil, did the same procedures and even a complete wipe of the HD installing from a thumb drive - not worked.

They said they would call me back in 2 days to tell me what's going on.

I ran into precisely the same issue. I had an iMac that went belly up. Apple said it would replace it, but couldn't with an iMac because it awaits the newer version; older iMacs are not in stock. Instead, they gave me a Mac mini and monitor. The mini came preinstalled with 10.8.1. Naturally, I went to upgrade it to 10.8.2 -- and update the iPhoto and Aperture apps, which wouldn't update without 10.8.2 because it had to redo the libraries to sync with 10.8.2. (Mind you, I had successfully updated all of this on my MacBook Pro JUST before my iMac went belly up.)

Well, after MUCH MUCH aggravation and wasted time, Apple Care support put me onto a higher-level tech. Turns out that Apple discovered a flaw in 10.8.2 and essentially stopped supporting it. So, you may have gotten lucky just prior to that discovery -- as I did with my MacBook Pro -- but not after they found the flaw. The Apple Care tech could NOT say when that would be. He did help me create new temporary iPhoto and Aperture libraries that I can access if I hold down the option key if I launch. (Dates, keywords, faces, etc., didn't come along with the strategy, which he told me would be the case.) But I can't otherwise access iPhoto or Aperture in regular mode until the update is fixed or replaced with 10.8.3.

I don't know why Apple continues to show the 10.8.2 update (or if it does) but that's the issue. Don't hurt your brain trying and trying again to make the thing work now.

P.S. It's possible that 10.8.2 works on some models, but not on others. I didn't ask him.

got MBP 13 nonretina mid-2012 and installed iphoto and aperture w/o any problems on 10.8.2. what I did was to reformat my existing 10.8.1 and fully reinstalled 10.8.2 (FULL) on it but still having HDMI output issue to my external display 😠

Did you get a fix to your problem?

I have just bought a New MBP retina 13" today and I cant update to 10.8.2 - software updates says there are now apple updates and it wont let me update my iPhoto as I am not on 10.8.2

I can confirm that the issue of the HDMI blanking out for several seconds occasionally still is happening for me after installing the supplement 2.0 update on top of 10.8.2 on a Mac Mini.

Is the HDMI issue you are mentioning, where it blanks out occasionally, something related to the pulled the 10.8.2 update? Is anyone experiencing that on 10.8.1? I'm in the boat where my new mini is stuck to 10.8.1, but I haven't noticed that HDMI issue (I have a regular monitor on the thunderbolt port and a flat screen TV running off of the HDMI port, and have watched a number of movies and such through Plex on the TV and have not noticed any issue)

I'm on 10.8.1 and I have the HDMI issue. Though it was a faulty HDMI cable until jftessier mentioned it.

10.8.1 won't allow new mac mini to use icloud for email or notes. I gave apple a week. Now going with Gmail instead of icloud .me for synched email.
