iPhone 5 sleep/wake button not working

I paid nothing. Covered by the 1 year limited manufacturer warranty. Before going to the store, back up your phone to icloud. They'll restore your phone on the spot. Recommend you make an appointment with the genius bar so you don't have to wait around.

I purchased my iphone 5 from verizon.com. Will apple still help me or do I need to go through Verizon? Does anyone know? I am having the same issue with my lock button. It only works half the time, and the left side only works, the right side is non-functioning.

I had same issue bought phone on day of launch £699.00 i took the phone to the apple store as on off button doesn't work properly the phone been in a case from new and was told it is a hardware fault and they will swap it there and then but for a phone in a plain white box, asked them three times if the phone was new but just kept telling me it was put together from recycled parts with a new screen and casing!! Not happy so i didn't take the phone apple is supposed to be a premium brand they know they have an issue and surely should replace the phone with a new one why should I settle for a phone that has second hand internals, I have spent £1000s on apple products over the years and think this is a disgrace and if I end up with a refurbished phone I will never buy another apple product

I have the same issue.. But my problem is the next apple store is about 2 1/2 hours away so not easy to get there...but i'm going to the states soon do you think it's possible to go to apple store there or do i have to go to one in germany since i bought here?

You can do it by post if you open a case but you will receive a refurbished phone not a new one a joke from a so called premium brand with billions in cash reserves

im disappointed with apple, somebody brought my iphone 5 from Hong Kong and now im living in Malaysia and i have problem with my iphone sleep, awake bottom, and here in malaysia they dont accept fixing my iphone, really silly mistakes like this with apple product will makes me change my idea not to buy their products anymore, exactly like the brake pads for Toyata, its basic , why apple is doing this mistake

My iPhone5 had the same issue. Took it in today and walked out with a new iPhone5. Did I say I love Apple? Well I do.

I've had the same problem with my iPhone 5 for the past 3 months. Unfortunately for me, I haven't been talking to the right people at Apple it seems. I have visited the Genius Bar, used online support chat, and called an Apple Rep. They keep telling me to switch cases, restore the phone, set it to factory settings, etc. Nothing is working. 😟 So sad...

Hi guys. I have the same problem. From the left side of the button it works but on the right it doesn't. The problem that i have now is that i have bought the iphone 5 from boston and now i live in greece. We don't have apple-store unfortunately. What can i do ?

I am also facing the similar issue, Left side is working and right side is not! Called Apple Care support and they have booked an appointment for me at Apple Store. I will update the thread once i visit the store. I do hope they also replace my phone.

Suggestion: Back up your phone, reset to factory settings, take it in like new so that they can see that it is reset and the button is still not working. That is what I did. I was in and out of the store in about 15 minutes, with a new phone.
