When I attempt to upgrade an app in iTunes for windows, I get an error: "Could not purchase. An unknown error occurred (11111). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later"

When I attempt to upgrade an app in iTunes for windows, I get an error: "Could not purchase. An unknown error occurred (11111). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later"

I am running the latest iTunes 10.7.0.21 for Windows 7.

This error occurs if I try to either update the app or if I delete it and attempt to redownload.

I have an iPhone and an iPad. I am unable to update the apps or install the apps from within the App Store on iOS.

I do not have an AOL ID, as is a common issue with this type of error.

From what I can tell, my Apple ID account seems fine. I logged in, changed some information, and ensured my credit card is valid and updated.

I can download new apps just fine. I am unable to update or install apps I have purchased in the past.

Have you tried to sign out of your account, and then sign in again?

That worked for me.

I have attempted to sign out and sign in while on iTunes and my iOS devices. Still no resolution.

Well, it worked for me just for a while. While I was downloading an new app, after sign out and sign in again, I was able to update an app, but that worked just once... I´m having the same issue again...

I'm having the same issue (11111) error, and the inability to update apps.

I called apple support eariler today (4 pm ish). I was also escalated to a Tier 2 (Senior) advisor, and he had me runs some tests, signing in, signing out, authorizing, deauthorizing, etc. No dice. He said that they have been recieving 5002 errors all day relating to iTunes match and this was really strange. He indicated that it was a problem on their end and I should wait 24 hours and the problem should be resolved. So i'm doing that.

I am getting the same error message and now in contact with a tech support rep with a previous issue I have had. Although it was by email, she is very good at getting back to me. I can download music and apps, just cannot update them at all. Been like this for a few days now where I cannot update apps, but can buy apps and music. Is anyone else able to buy music and apps, but cannot update any apps?

I am having the same issue and I have no idea how to correct it. I have been having the same issue now for 2 days. I can download the app, but not able to update. If I keep playing around, I an eventually get the app to update, but I shouldne have to keep hitting "update" like 10-15 times for it to work and even then sometimes it wont work. Please Help!!!

I had this very same issue today. I noticed it when i tried to update an app from my iphone. Would click update than the app would quickly disapper and would still show up in the "Update". So I went to my pc and tried to update it on itunes got the error 11111. So i wanted to see if it was an issue with just my iphone and used my sons & husband iphone to update some of there apps. On both iphones my account was showing up for some of there apps. Im asuming cause we all use the same pc to sync.

***My FIX***

-If you share the same pc/mac and others sync there idevices on itunes most likely they have apps w/your account.

-First thing on my husbands and sons iphone the itunes aggrement poped up so I clicked agree.

-I went to App Store on there iphones and went thruough all there updates. Check if your account shows up in any of them. You dont have to update there apps just click cancel.

-If you see your account show up on any apps delete that app.

-Then i did a reboot on my iphone.

-I went back to App Store on my iphone and was able to update apps!!!

Hope this helps out. 😉

Add one more disgruntled user to the list. First noticed that I couldn't download upgrades on my iPhone. It would prompt for password as normal, would briefly show "waiting" on the app icon and then just stops with app store still showing update. True deleting the app and installing from iTunes. This worked, but iTunes library had old version of app so it still showed an upgrade. I then deleted the app from the phone and iTunes and that is when I started getting the 11111 error. I've since discovered that I can download any new content to any of my linked iDevices, but cannot download any type of previously purchased content. No previously purchased music not on device, no previously purchased uninstalled apps, no installed app upgrades, etc. ALL show up in purchased content lists, but when you attemp to download it appears to be starting and then simply fails with no errors on the iDevice(s). I've also tried signing out of my account in settings - store, performing a hard reset and then signing back in, but alas, no success.

C'mon Apple, obviously a problem that is happening to numerous users and it started happening to us all at the exact same time. You got us iAddicted, now give us our iFix.

I'm in the same boat as everyone else here.

No updates from iTunes (error 11111)

No updates from iPhone 4s or iPad 2 (the empty update bar appears on the app's icon and then disappears immediately)

No updates from App Store on my Mac (error "MZCommerce.JmsSendError_message")

Honestly I have now 45 updates pending and I'm not willing to go through an average 40 taps per app to get them updated... :-)

Apple phone support is too busy here in Italy and there's a standard "call later" message, and they've not yet replied to a couple of email, one to the US support team and one to the Italian support team. My feeling is that they're overwhelmed by this major bug in the e-commerce system.

When I attempt to upgrade an app in iTunes for windows, I get an error: "Could not purchase. An unknown error occurred (11111). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later"
