iPad mini headphone jack doesn't work

Thank you! I had tried all the other suggestions and was tired of updating and restarting the kids iPads. We are taking a plane soon and we were worrying about not having them ready for the flight. This was the last attempt before I went into the genius bar

Same issue with mine and a hard reset helped, although I also find that certain apps (CNN live TV feed) seize up when I remove the jack and want to listen through the speakers.

Thanks for submitting this problem! Had the same issue with my iPad Mini. We reset, holding the Home and Wake/Snooze button simultaneously until the Apple logo appeared, and voila, the audio jack works.

This happened to me as we'll just reset your ipad mini and the headphone jack will be working fine. For those who don't know reset it means ***press and hold the power and home button at the same time til you see the apple logo it will just turn off your device and just turn it on. Hope this helps.

Hello. So, all I can suppose try to repeat hard reset (as I did) with headphone jack plugged in. Perhaps it can help as switch between speakers and headphones is software...

Same problem. Restarting the iPad mini solves the problem.

However, resetting a device every time I want to use my headphones is not a solution. There is a hardware or software bug with the iPad mini. I hope apple recognizes this and fixes it!

I solved the problem. I did a hard reset and the jack is now working fine. I'm sharing this tip with others who may experience the same.

I'm on my 3rd Mini iPad in one month with this problem.... 😠 I haven't tried the hard reset but I will do that now because I cannot deal with the frustration of going back again.... If i have to do it each time though it's not the solution - true.....

go to setting, then in music section then check

sound check should on

Volume limit should be as OFF and check volume is full, then you headphone will work fine, just resolved after spending 3 hours. so dont reset your phone.

the hard reset of the ipad mini worked...almost went back to apple because this was the second time this happened.... but it works fine now! hopefully this is a bug they can fix!!!
