unable to verify update iOS 6.0.1

TThank you ripfree! This is what finally worked for me. I will add, my iPad had to be plugged in for this to be successful.

This solved it for me too; I had already tried every combination of restarting, disabling and renabling Wifi, disabling and reenabling cellular data etc. and nothing worked.

Killing all of the apps in my history and restarting worked first time (the restart was needed).

This was on an iPhone 5. Interestingly it was trying and failing to update to iOS 6.0.2 when the bug was happening, but now that it is fixed it is updating to iOS 6.1. Strange bug.

You should try out the suggestion in Ripfree's recent reply and see if it solves your problem.

for us it was settings - general - reset - reset network settings... And for us the issue was that the device was trying to download and verify a version (iOS 6.1) that had been replaced by a newer version (iOS 6.1.2) on the servers. Seems to cause confusion.

Thank you very much Ripfree for your suggestion. It worked for me too. I tried everything. Reseting my iphone and using wifi, got the same error. Tried downloading thru computer/itunes. I couldn't get it verified. I restarted the computer and wifi as well.

I went searching on here and finally came across yours. I was worried when my apple was updating a second time (with the apple and status bar on the screen) but it worked! 🙂 I had even made an appointment with my local genius bar, but thankfully I can canel that. 🙂 Thanks a bunch!
