Hotmail smtp.live.com server will not connect

Check the SSL box and Make the port 587. It solves the issue.

Thanks Haggie - can't believe how inconvenient this has been. Without people like you posting solutions many more of us would be up a river without a paddle. Checked BT forums and a couple lead back here. Can't imagine how many people simply ditched their email account and set up new ones.

Ditching a Hotmail account and getting something else is a good thing. 😐

Brilliant, we'd spent ages fiddling around with my mum's Mac, she took it into the Genuis Bar and obviously it all worked fine as they dont have BT in there.

We can now send through the bt server and the hotmail server, thanks everyone 🙂

I read where someone simply went to Advanced settings, and checked the box where server removes copy of message, see below (OSX 10). Seems stupid, but it worked, after much frustration.
