iPhoto keeps switching to the Last Import folder automatically

When iPhoto is open, and you switch to another Application, then switch back to iPhoto, iPhoto automatically switches back to the Last Import folder. This is very annoying because you lose your place in iPhoto. It seems like iPhoto wants to import new photos everytime you flip to it, even though there is no camera plugged in, which is why it ends up on the Last Import folder. Has anyone else seen this or have a solution?

The folder literally contained nothing—not even hidden files or trashes.

That's how it should be. When photos are dropped onto the iPhoto icon or window the files are put in that folder which imports/copies them into the library, placing them in the Masters folder and then files in the Auto Import folder are deleted.

When an item, a file or folder, is left behind them that's when iPhoto starts acting up like a petulant child.
