"Use Audio Port for" gone in Mountain Lion

Where has this feature gone? I remember when I bought my Macbook Pro 13", the headphone jack was advertised as both a headphone and line in jack.

However it is now advertised as just a headphone jack, this is not what I bought.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

The Mac came loaded with Mountain Lion 10.8.2.

The machine is advertised as having Audio Line In/Out. An audio line in option was very much part of my purchase decision.

It has never been advertised as having an audio in.

I'm quite frankly very annoyed that I have bought something that is NOT as advertised and therefore blatantly (arrogantly) contravenes the Sales of Goods Act 1979.

It is exactly as advertised.

Post a link to the ad you are looking at.

I must correct you. It has clearly been advertised on the Apple site, in the apple stores and at PC World.

First off look at the link posted by XcallibuR : http://support.apple.com/kb/SP645

You will note:

Audio

  • Stereo speakers with subwoofer
  • Omnidirectional microphone
  • Combined headphone/line in (supports digital output)
  • Support for Apple iPhone headset with microphone

Now for the the ad on PC World:

You will Note:

Now, I dont wish to be perceived as b eing rude: But please do some research before comenting.

Regards.

Show me where Apple advertised the 13" 2012 models as having Line In (audio in) I could not care less what some retailer (who obviously just copied the earlier model spec) thinks.

As for the other link, it's a different model (2011)

I also have no desire to be rude but research is best done before purchasing, and the manufacturer is the one with the correct answers.

Tell me, is there an option to change the settings?

I Really Really need it!!

And it's like 9:00pm 😟

So i can't buy it right now, and i don't wanna spend money about that!

My question: Can somebody please tell me an optoin (free, maybe some software,..) so i can record from my headphone jack?

I'm having a MacBook Pro 2012 13" running OS X 10.8.3. I've updated from lion to mountain lion in juli 2012

Thaanks!

Your Mac does not have an audio input. Buy a USB interface.

I don't understand why you would go out of your way to refute what is so painfully obvious and continue to mislead readers on this forum.

I bought the 2012 13" MBP with Mountain Lion already installed and it was indeed advertised as having audio in/out capabilities and the feature was removed.

All we can hope for is that they get so many complaints about the issue that they release a patch for it.

Oh, and here's a picture of the Quick Start Guide that came within my MBP's box. Unfortunately it's in spanish, but I'm quite sure you can tell that it advertises the dual capability of the port.

Please post the entire page, that could be any model.

We are referring only to the post 2011 13" model and I think that you have posted a different model.

Here is the specification for a 13" 2012 MBP, note that there is no Audio input listed. (Or fitted) so the question is why are you encouraging people who need an audio in to buy the only Mac that doesn't have one?

Good lord, CSound1 - why insist that people aren't having a problem that they *are* having? I bought my MacBook Pro 13" a few months ago, and I too am shocked that it no longer offers line-in. It wasn't mentioned when I bought it, and I didn't assume that I would be losing facilities I had in my last MBP. And here is what Apple are still falsely advising:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3625

Doesn't work. No line-in. Now I will have to buy an external soundcard, which is a pain in the arse. I'm finally starting to lose patience with Apple, and considering a PC next time... The intrusive Apple Store is annoying too. Also the fact that you have to manually turn off the option to download software ONLY from the Apple Store. They're becoming bossy and controlling, more than I would like - and removing essential functions without mentioning it is not on.

I have been saying that 2012 and later 13" MBP's do not have an audio line in, and as you have found out, they don't. Whether this is a problem is up to you, the specification on the Apple Store accurately describes the available facilities.

(It doesn't help that we stll have people such as ReCaRi who keep on insisting that there is an audio line-in on the machine, thus misleading others)

If you don't like Apple products do yourself a favor and don't buy one.

My 'issue' is that Apple didn't make the change known, told me in-store that my new MBP would 'do everything that the last one did', and are still giving THIS advice ( last updated in March 2013 ) on their support pages:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3625

With no disclaimer that it won't work on newer MBPs.

That's my issue. And you being rude to those of us who didn't peruse the entire manual before buying, even assuming that the manual is accurate... someone here has already provided a scan of misleading information from the packaging on theirs, but you choose to believe that they're posting a pic from another model.
