Where is iTunes DJ in iTunes 11?

I just upgraded to iTunes 11 and noticed that iTunes DJ is missing from the Sidebar as well as from the dropdown menu. I used this feature often at my house for parties so iPhone users could have fun suggesting music.

What happened to this feature? Is it still there, but hidden?

I wasn't suggesting for a moment that it replaced all of the iTunes DJ features. merely pointing out that for anyone who just wants to hit one button to play a randomized set of music from their entire collection, then theres the workaround.

I personally would like the original DJ Facility put back in, but that is completely down to Apple and what they want to

I an with you on that one. If enough people complain to Apple, the squeaky wheel will get oiled and Apple doesn't monitor the forums... in order to get your voice heard you will have to go to the following URL:

If enough people send negative feedback to Apple then something will get done.

@ Iphone bust.

Quite, that's the best feature of D.J. for me, i.e. I don't have to choose a song in order to create a random playlist, it's all done by going to D.J. and hitting refresh.

I'm saddened that the update to 11, hasn't taken this issue into account, as several "fixes," seem to have been made but I imagine that the loss of D.J. is pretty high on the understandable list of grievances and, although, it's early days, I would've thought that they'd be working night and day in order to quell the backlash that's evident, not just in these forums but also on the net, as a whole.

I've struggled to find too many reviews that are raving about 11, in a positive way.

Given that, like I said, I've gone back to 10.7 just to get D.J. back and given that Apple are still pestering me to "upgrade," which, I've asked them to stop doing and which they've ignored and which I'll never do till the D.J. issue is dealt with, I'm considering looking round for alternative ways of organizing my music library and, if I can find one with similar features to D.J. and that I can synch my ipod to, with ease as well as buy tracks, I might be tempted.

new iTunes 11.0.1 still no iTunes DJ.

it seems to me that the version 11 is only there to support the new graphical store.

apple only seems to care about selling stuff (music, movies, iCloud etc.) but fails to let the users actually enjoy the things they buy in the store in a perfect way, if they go on like this, people will switch to other alternatives.

still sticking with iTunes 10.7 because of this, and gave another feedback on http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html hopefully they will listen eventually although I doubt that

Quick question,

For those that reverted to itunes 10.7 WITHOUT using time machine,

did you lose your Album Artwork? Playlists? or Song Ratings?

i cannot use time machine since i didnt have it set up so i have to replace the library file from one of the previous library files and i am worried i will lose the above-mentioned.

Thanks

@mobi007.

I reverted without using "Time Machine," following some of the instructions given earlier in this discussion.

One of which mentions removing the Library for 11 and that did the trick, other wise you get "error," messages.

It worked fine, but I'm using Windows Vista..

I did lose my playlists and artwork etc.

I've never really "rated," my songs.

However, I don't have that many playlists, only about 5, or 6 which I replenished from ideas thrown up by DJ which is why I love the function so much, it constantly suggests new songs, or songs I wouldn't think of looking for in a pretty vast selection..

I also lost the Album Artwork, so, in a way it's like starting from scratch and that had to be re-loaded..

But, for me, it was worth it.

Neorich;

I got a warm response from Apple Support that eventuall left me cold.

Their answer, "Download iTunes 10.7, delete 11 and reinstall 10.7."

I asked if I would lose my art work, ratings and # of plays. The tech went to a senior adviser and "Yep, its going to be lost."

I found an older .itl but turns out it was just updated on the 10th.

I went for a Restore point Critical Update on the 11th. Nothing beyond that.

Did you do the delete and reinstall? If so I got a lot of work a head of me before the big Party next Thursday night.

Dang.

Hi Dang.

I think I'd just updated my last Library too.

Yep, I deleted 11..

Downloaded 10.7 and reinstalled it but removed the last dated Library which would've been the Library that was installed by 11.

Sorry to say, It think you're right..

😟

I wonder just how many people have been p****d off by this whole experience.

Like I said, I do use playlists a lot, but chenge them from time to time, but tend to only keep a few, so losing them was no big deal.

The biggest was an "Intermission," playlist, I use between sets for background music, on gigs when I'n not playing, which I also change regularly, but that only has about 32 songs in it.

For those who've made up dedicated playlists for D.J. ing proper, I imagine that's going to be quite a task..

Good luck with the reinstall.
