iPhone won't show up in iTunes 11.

Did you ever get this resolved? I"m having same issues, device shows up on my computer, but ever since installing Itunes 11 my iphone will not show up in itunes. Tried everything!!!

In my case, it turned out to be a bad data port in the iPhone. It sould charge but not connect to iTunes. Updating to iTunes 11 was just coincidental with the port going bad. I replaced the port (ifixit.com) and that solved the problem for me.

Not sure if it was the best (easiest) way but I solved it as follows:

1) Ensure Did that all the info was either synced to iCloud or copied to my computer with the program "Image Capture"

2) Removed all backups from iTunes / Preferences / Units

3) connected the iPhone as a new device and when it was finished, I took a new backup

My iPhone 4s wasn't showing up in iTunes 11 as a device, nor was my computer showing on the phone as available over wifi for syncing. I did a reset on the phone and when I plugged back into the USB port it showed right up in iTunes, and wifi sync then worked as well. Celestial bodies are now back in proper alignment!

Something else to consider - for me it was due to an "unauthorized" cord. I was using a non Apple cord which charges the phone just fine - but would not sync.

my problem was that on a windows computer I had "Disk Use" turned on.. this makes the ipod only come up as a device or camera. Plug into windows computer and see if it will load into itunes. if so .. turn off manually manage music and disable disk use. then stop the sync if necessary. eject and try on mac. this worked for me... sorry for the terrible grammar and spelling. I just wanted to post quickly as i just figured out my solution.

mines doing the re rolling thing aswell. i plug my iphone in and it keeps saying restore from back up or set as new iphone, it doesnt go into the iphone menu so i can sync music and so on.... WHAT DO I DO< SOMEONE HELP ?????

Dude. YOU DID IT FOR ME BRO! THNAK YOU! i encorage everyone to follow these spesific steps, AS A MATTER OF FACCT, untill i did THESE STEPS, MY PC WOULD ALSO NOT RECOGNIZE MY IPPHONE IT WOULD ONLY MAKE THE NOISE! AFTER THESE STEPS PROVIDED BY NEOGRIFF EVERYTHING WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!!

"If you have any USB devices connected, disconnect them. Also disconnect from the internet and turn off your antivirus before you connect your idevice. Reboot the idevice as well before connecting to the laptop. -Neogriff

I have recently had the same issue. Read this page. Got PO'd. Realized i was using after market iphone cord. Used original cord and it showed up instantly. Worth a try if any one has this problem.

Had the same problem. Make sure your usb cord is connected to the computer, not the monitor. Had mine connected to the Display USB port - phone wouldn't show up. Moved it to the usb port on the Mac Pro and it appeared.

I also had an iphone 4s which would not show up in newly upgraded itunes 11. After all the recommendations of changing cables, shutting down, nothing worked until I took out the sim card from phone and put it back in again!

Worked for me too, clicked Eject Disc, DVD player made the eject noise, then when I plugged the iPhone back in iTumes found it just fine.
