iTunes 11 doesn't automatically transfer app updates

I have been following this post as I too have had the issue of updated apps not transfering either to or from my iPhone. I found that I was backing up my iPhone to icloud. Once I uncheched that option and started backing up again to iTunes, new apps and updates started syncing automatically between iTunes and my iPhone.

I understand cleaning it up and making it look nice but that is like putting all your dash guages to your car in the trunk, with no instructions on where they are.

This is something Windows would do NOT Apple. What is up with this Crap ? It took me hours to find this thread and NOTHING in the Apple instuctions about how to get there.

Man I am glad I found Your post. I was about to do a full rebuild of my iTunes Library and all assosiated files. I would have lost all my ratings of my songs, playlists etc.

If anyone at Apple reads this: iTunes Match and iCloud is great, but my problem is this: I live in Norway and iTunes Match does not work with music yet. You get it? So when You guys change the way iTunes sync stuff, You really need to find a way to make it crystall clear how it works.

transfer purchases has always been the equivalent of transfering purchases made on your ios device back to your workstation. I don't want to use my wifi or celullar bandwidth to updae my workstation.

I want my workstation to download new ups and then update my device. The proposed solution as far as I understand it in this thread seems backwards to me.

Any other better solutions?

Another problem without automatic transfer is that if you download a PDF onto your iPad into iBooks, then you sync before transferring purchases, you lose the PDF. PDF syncronization is half-baked uaing iBooks, because you cannot do it via the cloud only with iTunes, now it seems using iTunes is downright dangerous.

Well, I don't know what fixed it, but after I updated my iPhone to iOS 7 and iTunes to 11.1, all is back to normal. No more "Transfer purchases" 🙂.

So if you backup to itunes it transfers the purchases.

If you revert to backup to icloud, does it stop transferring the purchases again?

I have ios7 and itunes 11.1.3 and the problem still occurs for me: apps purchased on iphone (and updated apps) don't automatically transfer back to itunes during normal sync. I don't want to change my backup option to itunes--I prefer icloud--but that shouldn't forfeit such a basic need as automatically keeping your apps synced to itunes. itunes is after all where you're supposed to manage your ios apps. I just checked the itunes option to automatically download app purchases made on other devices, but as others have said it seems roundabout to have to redownload something when transferring would be more efficient. Also I'm not sure whether or not this also transfers app updates. Can anyone confirm this?

One of our staff members has an iPad (iOS 7.0.4) and an iPhone (6.1.3) connected to a PC running Windows 7. It took a while but I was able to get iTunes 11.1.3 to transfer all of the purchases on his iPad automatically. This started working after he downloaded an app on the PC via iTunes then synced it with the iPad.

iTunes can copy apps to his iPhone by syncing and it can be used to rearrange apps on the phone. However using the transfer purchases option in iTunes, I was only able to transfer 2 apps that he updated today on his iPhone and 1 that he downloaded today. No other apps have been copied from his iPhone to his iTunes library.

His iPhone apps are not being backed up to iCloud.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have had 3 iphones, am determined to switch to Android next. NEVER has ANY VERSION itunes EVER transfered updated apps to ANY device for me EVER no matter WHAT I have tried. It will update on the computer -- to what purpose? Apple has become Micrsoft as far as I am concerned in terms of usability, complexity and udpates but WORSE becuase you cannot get altenative sources as you can with Android. Also finiding information or getting help is also equallly as bad as Microsoft. I would NEVER purchase ANY Apple device EVER again for ANY purpose. Also I have had APPS no longer transfer to a new phone becasuse the vendor discontinued them or modified them even though it is backed on my computer which is Apple authorized theft and both the App builder and the facilitator should face criminal prosecution and class action for $14.95 apps stolen from thousands of people. Not as bad as Bernie Madoff perhaps but at least he was honest about being a theif. These guys are pretending they are not theives as they swim in pools lined with our money.

I think the reason for this is because some people complained about too much space on their computer being taken up by an iPhone, iPod, or iPad. Now that you can re-download all apps from iCloud so easily, many people don't want to waste so much space on their computer, especially since most of people use social networking where they can just sign in on a download and be where they were before and Game Center saves data for most games. You don't really need to transfer apps anymore now that iCloud backs you up.

You way on how to transfer apps from iphone to iTunes really works. Thanks you for the advice. I google on the internet and find that iPhone Transfer can provide a wonderful help on transferring. I hope this can also help other people.
