iTunes 11 doesn't automatically transfer app updates

I've just been syncing my iPhones and iPad with iTunes 11 for the first time and noticed a problem

Even after syncing each device, each of which is up-to-date with apps, iTunes 11 showed 23 available updates from the store.

I had to manually go to File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to get the updates into my library. On iTunes 10 these updates would automatically be copied to my library.

Is there any way I can get back to that?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.1

I just used a tool named iPubsoft iPad iPhone iPod to Computer Transfer to get my iPhone camera roll to computer, perhaps you can also try it! I know that it is also helpful when you wnat to transfer files such as music, photos, books, voice memos, etc. from your iPhone to pc!

I can't get the file - devices - transfer purchased items to work either. It says it is transferring items, bit it takes about 2 seconds, and all the apps still show as needing updating in iTunes. I'm having to download everything three times as I have 3 devices.

Just find some small app in your iTunes library that is not on your device and drag it from the applications view to your device. For whatever reason, this forces iTunes to pull updates off the device into it's library.
