iTunes 11: No more album art preview for selected track??? :(

For me, iTunes 11 is much worse than iTunes 10.

You can no longer view album art by selecting a track in list view.

In list view, album art is invisible — the album art square in the lower left-hand corner is gone. So unless the track is playing, you can't see album art. This is terrible news for people who need list view, like DJs. People like me who rely on album art to remember what an album is, can no longer just click around and see the covers. This was a tremendous memory aid, which is now gone.

Now to see album covers, you have to either play the track, or switch to grid or artist list — which show either no tracks, or very few tracks.

Bummer.

I agree - album art, cover flow, and the ability to sort playlists so that the cover art is viewable are huge features to me. I have a large classical collection in addition to thousands of other albums and you can't group things by composer in this new version. At least having the album art in a playlist view would be helpful. That way, I can sort a playlist by composer, but still see the album groupings easily. The album grid that defaults to artist grouping and can't be changed is worthless to me.

Other than these things, I actually kind of like the new version. I just hope they fix these things. Album art is a key aspect of collecting music and categorizing it. Apple always used to understand the importance of art to music. I hope this is just something that has been temporarily overlooked!

The sad part is that when you play your iPod in iTunes it no longer shows the cover art like it did with iTunes 10, kind of *****! It will show up if you are playing your library on the computer and it shows it as that tiny little thumbnail but when you switch over to the iPod to play music it disappears! It seems iTunes removes the best features after every update.

This is exactly the kind of s**t move I was afraid Apple would pull with iTunes 11. Maybe this is why Apple didn't seem to care that iTunes Match destroyed album artwork. Oh man. I have meticulously scanned artwork at high resolution for thousands of albums... This makes me sick at my stomach. Who in the world wants that cumbersome album view? Inefficient beyond belief! Wasn't that one of the "features" that made the iPad music app so reviled?

I know I have this complaint also

I just updated to itunes 11 with great regret.

- I can no longer view my column browser on the left side, the only option is to view it on top.

- There is no longer a cover art preview on the bottom left corner in songs list view. Previous itunes, you could view the artwork by clicking on the song without actually playing the song.

As a company with such forward thinking ideals and a focus on cover art integration into devices, I am surprise as to why you would get rid of this feature.

I hope they update this for us customers.

so the only solutiong to the album art:

just click on the small icon and then you will have a large album art display, scale it and place it anywhere on the desktop...

what annoys me is that now after i download a bunch of albums and start to editing some of the low resolution album art that came with the mp3 file, i have to actually play one of the songs in that album to view the cover quality, unlike before, while i'm listening to the new songs i just imported, i could just click on songs from other album and see the cover.

oh well guys it is what it is now aside from hoping them to make changes to it, or, you know you could just provide feedback by go to itunes on menubar and so on...

i'm pleased with the new look, especailly with the new album art display under the "grid" view, even though it is kind useless because it won't shuffle songs from different album but only play songs from selected album (when in grid mode), and i think it would be much better if this function is actually in the miniplayer.

as for the mini player, i mean...does anyone even use it? it looks all fancy now, but i think it's kind useless, at least for me.

and as for the new function "up next", i think this is really not needed, because it just go against with "shuffle" function, i don't want to know what's playing next, because for a lot of itunes users like me who have a huge huge collection, we have already sorted out playlists that we listen to, with all the good good songs, and now i just want to listen to songs randomly from that playlist, not minding what's coming up next, if it is a song not suited for the moment, simply click next...

some of you might have noticed, in playlist mode, you now have the name of the playlist and # of songs all displayed on the top, but what's confusing now is the play and shuffle button next to them. if you have used it you know what im talking about

as for the hidind the sidebar function, again, useless, i'd prefer a upgraded sidebar, like when you place your mouse next to the edge of the itunes windows on the left, it slide out, and when not, slide away.

Following Maps, Apple ****** iTunes up, too!

I'm really wondering who is making decisions at this company these days. Don't they test their products with at least 100 people before they ship them? Does senior management actually use their own products or are they on Windows/Android these days?

Pathetic!!! Eddy Cue should be fired next...
