Home sharing not working properly after iTunes 11

And you have iTunes 11 installed?

Yes, sorry, meant to say that the issue occurred after I installed iTunes 11 on my Win 8 64 machine.

I had read on another thread that installing Media Center had resolved the issue and, somewhat miraculously, it did.

I had the same problem that home sharing stopped worrking between all devices after upgrading to ITunes 11 (Win 7 PC, IPad3, Iphone) and finally got it working after disabling IPV6. This is how:

1. => Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections

2. Goto properties on both Local Area Network and Wireless (not sure which fixed it but i did both)

3. Disable IPV6

4. Reboot

Everything started working!

I see Apple have just released an update for itunes! Could this be the answer???

Just watched a whole tv show with no drop outs!!!!! Have changed nothing else just installed update for itunes. Looking good.

It would be nice if the update helped. When you said reboot, did you mean the computer or the router?

Well, I disabled it and rebooted my computer. Nothing different, still does not work and also applie 11.0.1 update as well. It worked when I first installed 11.0 but hasn't in like one and one half weeks. Airplay is missing as well. Quite frustrating! Other than edit>preferences>sharing, is there anywhere else I need to enable it?

The thing is, it did work for a few days. Very frustrating!!

I have Media Center installed previously which made no difference to Home Sharing. However I did go in and disabled the TCP/IP IPV 6 option for my internet connection and everything came back online right away. So far so good with Win Vista Home Premium, iTunes 11.0.1.

@gregeast could even get media center installed on my windows 8, but i found this and it worked for me...

as soon as i disabled the IGMP, my libraby poped right back up in my apple remote app and my iphon showed up in my device on itunes... hope thi shelps others.... Apple please bring back Jobs, i know its within your power.... 🙂

I have a Buffalo router. Do not see that setting.

Apple broke a key stone of the home entertainment ecosystem with this upgrade 11.

it seems that part of the pb is related to network management. I will investigate this WE.

Apple it is your job to fix pb before the release and to communicate when you missed something.

This is the service i pay with all my purchased on your very very (too) closed ecosystem.

Should we expect a fix in weeks or do we have to jump to another entertainment solution?

I would not like it.

I can confirm that the disconnect upon sleep bug is now gone. Updated this morning and my Apple TV plays home sharing streams without interruption.

I tried EVERYTHING. seriously, everything and I'm seasoned with computers to say the least. Disabling IPv6 on my network adapter under Windows7-64 immediately brought back Home Sharing. I was careful to make no other changes and test before/after - and this was the ticket!

Now *why* it has an issue with it is a different story...
