Well I was very excited after my initial post last night.......

After stopping the IPv6 on my system last night I got Home Sharing to come up on my iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 The library was correct and looked great.

Then a little later I tried to get HomeSharing up on the iPad Mini and it two tries before it hooked up. The movie file was fine but the TV file was a mess. There were TV shows mixed with EPUBs and PDF files and Podcasts. Something is definately not right yet.

The problem with this thread is that is contains multiple issues on two platforms. My problem is related to audio playback, not video.

Initially I thought that the update had solved my issue with audio from iTunes through Apple TV 3 had been solved, but tonight again playback just stopped after each track. I did not have this in iTunes 10, so I assume it's an iTunes 11/home sharing/iMac sleep issue.

I will file iTunes feedback.

Whisper it quietly but it appears that the latest update + whatever else has happened in the background has fixed my issue. That said I am now careful to ensure I am only sharing on one device (iPhone or iPad), I quit iTunes & restart before embarking on any homesharing listening & I only run iTunes on one machine (the Mac mini) while I am doing it.

I listened to 2 x 2 hour recorded radio programmes, watched 3 episodes of Homeland via my Apple TV and all went well. It strikes me that we early adopters got stung again - remember iTunes Match when it first started (a year ago for me in the UK).

I haven't changed anything on any of my devices - no router fiddling, no switching off ipv6 - just glad I am back to 'normal' for a while

On a slight tangent I see at least one person is excited about the Google Maps iphone app - sadly it is, to me, lame. Clunky interface, no street view & still nowhere ear as good as the old native app.

I don't know why this worked for me on my Windows 7 Computer, but with this latest update, Homesharing to my Apple TV stopped again. I shut down iTunes twice, rebooted the Apple TV, and neither of those worked. I eventually opened the task manager and force quit all of the itunes and apple related apps, including Apple Mobile Device Manager and iTunes Helper. After shutting those down (they stay resident even when you shut down itunes) and restarting iTunes, my AppleTV recognized the iTunes Library again. Maybe that will help.

I too have problems getting my ipad 4 working with my mini with the remote app and iTunes 11. It saw my Mac mini and was ok until I switched my Mac mini off. Then it would not see it at all. It says home sharing needs to be set up on my Mac mini. Yet my other Mac mini with iTunes 10.7 is working perfectly with my ipad 4. So I must conclude that it has to be something to do with the itunes 11.

I was having the same problems as everybody else. At the first the iTunes update did not solve all of my problems but strangely enough everything just started working several days ago. Sleep issues are gone, iTunes finds my mobile devices after they have been turned off and the on again. Also Wi-Fi sync has started working again without having to quit iTunes and opening it again. I do not know what fixed it but I'm not complaining.

Mountain Lion 2012 MBP

iPhone 5

ATV2

I've been experiencing the lack of Home Sharing and when it does work, EVERYTHING takes forever to load on the ATV.

After screwing around with this for 2 weeks, I have figured out that iTunes 11 seems to really hog a lot of my local wifi network's bandwidth or something. It struggles to connect to my iPhone and freezes often when connecting to it. Sometimes it fixes the ATV issue if I put my phone in airplane mode. The problem is horrifically worse when iTunes is downloading something. Example:

I just spent 5 minutes waiting for a 21:00 TV show to load from my MBP while I was downloading another 21:00 TV show to my MBP. I never had an issue like this before.
